Default Just picked up a new (to me) AP2

So I finally decided to get another car (current garage is packed with 85 IROC-Z, 91 DA, 88 Yami DT-50, 87 Yami 1100 Virago, 92 Suzuk GS500E, 01 GSXR 1000) and I picked an 04 Black AP2, but of course I have questions.

Mainly I have one major annoyance so far with the car... The clutch feels light as hell. I was wondering what it is "supposed" to feel like though since I have been driving on a cable 6-puck clutch with heavy duty pressure plate for the past 5 or so years. All the cars I had with hydrolic clutches before were from the 80s and I could swear that they had more travel and feel than this thing. Just sorta curious on your guy's take on this. Was also wondering what you guys suggest I check out on the car as before yesterday (and reading on here) I had never heard of the popping out of gear thing on decel, will definitely have to try that one.

Anyways, love the car, beats the piss out of driving a 91 DA with 253k miles on it

Thanks for the welcome, and yup... I like to switch it up quite a bit. Wish I still had all my old cars too:

65 Mustang with a 69 BOSS 302
98 Civic
88 Porsche 924S Lightweight
87 Rx7

So far though I have to say that the AP2 is one of the most sure footed cars I have driven and was even pretty good in the inch of snow I drove home in. Better in the snow than any of my other vehicles have been. So far I don't see what other people were complaining about when they said they were snappy or sucked in the snow. I could see it being a problem if I was driving around at 6k RPM everywhere, but driving like a jackass around town in a car isn't for me... I have my gsxr if I feel like being a jackass

Welcome to the site

In regards to the clutch, they all feel different it seems. Have you attempted to adjust it at all? Also, perform some research on this site, you can remove the CDV (clutch delay valve) and also replace the slave cylinder with an OEM ap1 unit.

congrats! the CDV screwed up my clutch at 25k it was all glazed up. I swaped it out for a ACT setup and removed the delay valve.

"88 Porsche 924S Lightweight". I wish you still had that car too so you could sell it to me.

Welcome to the site...as for the clutch, I'd suggest test driving another S2k at a dealership for comparison. Maybe a third if necessary. My two cents.

Thanks for the welcomes

I have been reading quite a bit on here on the different set-ups that everyone has and what is working. Haven't completely decided what I want to do with my S yet, but I am sure I will modify it in some way. Main thing I am thinking about getting is some sort or stand alone and a wideband so I can start learning to tune myself. Have always wanted to learn but never had the cash flow until now. So far it looks like the AEM EMS or Kpro would be the best bets for me, not sure yet though.

As for that Porsche, yeah, I wish I still had it too. Fun car, I was just too young and broke to take care of it. Here are some pics of it when I had it.
