KBB Value
I've been searching for an S2000 for a long time now (See my S2ki age? Add a couple of years there before I started posting and only read) in the NJ area. Recently, I have decided to take the plunge with around $18k. That leaves me with an AP1, which I would actually prefer.
But does anyone sell these for KBB value? Almost every seller I've talked to wants $2000 or more over market value. Are you kidding me? I can't find any S2000s below $20k and that's with 50k+ of mileage.
I found a nice NFR 01 with 14k miles on her. The seller wants $21,500 for it, but KBB says $18,300 is about right. I offered KBB + $500 and she thought that was completely unreasonable.
Should I not expect to get KBB value? I've never heard of such a thing, especially with summer over. It's not like it's a seller's market right now.
I'm guessing I should just hold off and wait until the right deal comes along, huh? Or am I dellusioned with KBB value?

Personally i love KBB its how i got such a smoking deal on my car.
But KBB is just a guide, you cant call them up and order a car from them. Some cars sale way under KBB like corvettes and porsches and some sale over KBB like S2000. Just keep looking be patient and you might want to fly out and buy something if the right deal comes along.
Thats what i did 2000 silver stone 16k miles, 1 owner, no accidents ever clean car fax, plus it has a comptec supercharger with aftercooler that was installed by comptech and some other extra's. $16,500 KBB sug retail private party $16,5. I didnt even try to talk him down. Flew down to austin texas to pick it up. Car was absolutely mint. Ive seen cars with 3k miles that looked way worse. try cars.com its a great site takes all the mojar newspaper listings and puts them on line.

16500 for a CTSC s2k that should have brought 23-25 in described mint condition and SC.
Thats not going to happen every year even.
The nice clean cars are usually 2nd or 3rd cars for people that arent hurting for the money and know they have a clean car that they babied.
