Thumbs up keeping the car outside?

So a few years ago I was bit with the s2000 bug, I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about. My problem is if I owned this car I do not have a garage to park it in. I live in my parents house (not moving out while in school because rent in San Diego is ) they park in the driveway, so I park in front of the house.

My question is would this be a good idea? Should I still consider the car? On the other hand, I don't live in a bad neighborhood and I detail cars, so I would take good care of the paint, maybe get a hard top, but the car might still attract to much attention out there.

I'm considering other cars as well, such as an SI, MS3, or an older project car such as an Integra or Civic. Except I don't think as highly of any of these cars as I do an S2k. I would feel envious every time I see one on the road. I don't know about a project car seeing as a I don't have a place to store it and work on it except my driveway, and there is the chance it may be stolen. Either way I want a car for a DD that I can Auto X too. If not an s2000, recommend me some cars to test drive.

As long as you understand the risks, get the proper insurance, take care of it proportionally, and can afford it all.. I don't see why not. On the other hand, I don't see how people living with their parents can really "afford" a 15-20k$ car. That's a couple years rent minimum in most places. I doubt your credit is very good [no time to build it] so you'd probably have to get your parents to cosign unless you have 20 grand cash to drop on it which no one seems to do these days. Then again, it's your business doesn't matter to me.

As you already know, the biggest "issue" is the top. Theft of the seats/electronics is very* easy and the sun causes the top to decay fairly quickly.

if you are gonna do that make sure your insurance will cover everything. i mean everything. sooner or later your seats are gonna be gone by some punks. and like sahtt said your top aint gonna last long. i would just go with something else. used m3 may be?

Get together with your folks and clean all the crap we all have in our garages and then you can park in there

Problem with the garage is the kitchen was expanded into it, and no car can fit inside.

I think I will pass on the S for a while, and start looking for a miata.
