Hate to say it but the AP1 rides smoother too. I would guess the extra harshness comes from the low-profile 17" tires.
Greater unsprung weight too?

I had to go with the AP1 for the redline myself.

What kind of tires are on the front there, all-season?

From what I've heard the AP2 wheel/tire combo weighs about the same as the AP1 (given OEM tires).

Drove my friend's AP1 around again today. I have to say, I'm very tempted to trade down (up?) to an AP1. All three pedals feel more natural and linear. I would miss the torque and interior of the AP2, though, that's for sure.

The front tires on my car are Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS. All-season indeed. But they seem to be very well rated at TireRack. They're 225s; even so my car understeers a bit in steady-state cornering.

Congrats Bryan I know you've been lurking around the boards for a while! Glad to see you finally got one! Will you be auto-xing it?

That is a stunning looking vehicle. What's all this chat about AP1 and AP2? Never heard anything about this before. I got my '06 S2KGT in October (bad timing) and I'm just waiting for the good weather to get a real blast. Your pictures are superb. I'll post some myself.

Not often, but I am taking it to the Oakland autox tomorrow (Sunday) for some fun in the wet.

The MR2s are my primary autox cars. Might have to use the S for trackdays though.

No, thankfully the S2000 comes with summer tires from the factory. The front tires on my car were replaced by a previous owner...

AP1 and AP2 are the chassis code designations for the early '00-'03 S2000 (AP1) and the '04-'07 (AP2). You may know the car received numerous changes for 2004, including revised styling and suspension, larger wheels, interior improvements, and in America, a bigger engine. Looking forward to your pictures as well.

Winter is actually the best time to drive a convertible here. In the summer it is way too hot!

Congrats on your NFR, Bryan. Looks great with the HT (I haven't seen many NFRs with the factory top -- great!)

Oh, and for folks who don't know the acronyms, see the acronym thread that I linked to in the Introductions forum FAQ.
