Looking at an 02 S2000.
Just a little update. Took two S2000's for a test drive today and both had issues. One ended up being a theft recovery that had some mods. The other had like no clutch left and had some kinda electrical problem or fuel problem. Car would just fall on its face once every so often. Just outta the blue which was weird.
Anywho...Despite that (LOL) I loved the S2000. Such a nice car and definately a step up from my now totalled 05 RSX-S. So responsive and tight and just plain enjoyable to drive. Looking at another two now that are quite a bit more money but pretty sure are mint. Both 03's with similar miles for the same price. Just not sure if I wanna spend as much money on them as they want for them (I will haggle the price a bit but still). But driving the two I drove today (despite the fact they had issues) makes me want one more.

the car could also be falling on it's face and stalling if the climate has severely changed since the last time it was started/driven. s2k ecu's are smart and adapt on their own to different climates, humidity levels etc. They just take a bit to adapt. The actual time that this takes is subjective and different in every location.
get an ap2 though... I would say they are more comparable to your rsx s and not as 'raw' if you will. And they also don't burn oil as bad

The one that falls on it's face could be a Map Sensor, to test it you can take the sensor out then put it back in.
Both walk away from them and find a good car, where abouts are you anyways?

An ap2 would be nice but price is an issue. I dont wanna shell out $30k+ on a car again.
It would be FAR cheaper to plan a visit in Ontario, check the autotrader.
I would pick up a 600.00 flight from NS to ON and either drive it back or schedule the car for delivery. There are a ton of companies that specialize in that.
You will save $9-$10,000

It doesnt look like id actually save that much money if I could get one here for $25k. Maybe a few grand at most. Question is if the few grand is worth my time booking a flight and going there to shop around for one and then make the long drive back. :/

I was thinking about that yesterday. Their are really only two S2000's here that are an option for me and both are listed at $26,900. Thats not an unreasonable price as both are Florida cars with less than 70k kms on them but I wouldnt pay that much for them. Id probably go $25k at most and I think I could get that price. Just trying to figure out how much I really would save by picking one up in another province factoring price diff, plane ticket, gas for trip back, etc.

A 2000-01 with 70-80 sell for 18k then factor in taxes on the difference (HST @ 13%) plus its a car that doesn't have a history.
I would rent a car to Quebec or Ontario and get a hotel for a few days and drive the S2000 back. It would be a cool adventure and it will save you thousands.
All depends on your time, just giving you an idea.
You could also work with some people here to arrange the sell, in the T.O fourm there are a couple of guys that will do all of the foot work and ship it to you for a small amount (2-3,000?) that will still be a better deal!

Factor in a few days with living expenses (food, hotel) plus gas for mileage needed to be travelled and rental car fees if I went with that option (which is cheaper than flying) and your looking at spending almost the same but using up a lot more time.If I could get an 03 for say $20k there, then that would definately be worth it.
Still an option though I guess. Doesnt hurt to have options.
