Default In the market for my first s2k

cliffs at bottom

I'm about to turn 23, live just south of atlanta. I will be putting my mr2 turbo up for sale tomorrow as soon as the clutch is replaced, and as soon as it sells I will be ready to buy my first s2k! I'm very excited about it, and want to make sure I get the exact car that I want that gives me the most bang for my buck.

I have a couple of friends who have owned s2ks before, including my buddy's dad, who recently sold his s2k and got a 3.8 genesis in its place. He kept his comptech supercharger kit for it, which he told me he would give me a mega hookup on and sell it to me for $1500! (he said its a $6k kit)

Anyway, my ideal price point for a s2k is $13k. Can budge about 2k either way for the right car. Prefer under 100k miles. Has to be AP2, prefer it be 2004+ and not a conversion, but I will consider a conversion if it is a trusted member of the forums. I'd like it to be lightly/tastefully modded. Coils, intake, sound system, exhaust, thats pretty much it. I don't want much more than that since I plan on eventually dropping that supercharger kit in it. Hard top would be a huge plus. Would super love to find a laguna blue, but color isnt a huge issue, as long as it isnt sebring silver or sazuka blue.

Are my expectations realistic if coupled with patience? I am willing to fly just about anywhere in the US to pick it up if its the perfect deal
From what I've read on here and been told by my s2k friends, coils are much preferred to springs for lowering s2ks. Any brands to look for and/or avoid?

CLIFFS:
-about to buy first s2k, prefer $13k, give or take 2k
-Must be AP2, prefer not conversion, lightly modded
-Not looking for any mods beyond sound, hard top, coils, exhaust, intake
-prefer laguna blue, will take any color that isnt sebring silver or sazuka blue
-hard top is a huge plus
-have comptech supercharger kit waiting for me for $1500 when I have the cash

any help/leads would be appreciated. for about 2 weeks ive been regularly checking the classifieds here as well as local craigslist and south florida craigslist. I've seen several solid deals but nothing that has really caught my attention for sub 15k yet.

If you are looking for an AP2 s2000 you may want to consider bumping your budget up a little bit to get a 2006-2009. The main reason why i suggest this is because you can get a Flashpro to tune those models for $650. otherwise if you get a 2004-5 you will need to get a AEM ECU to get a full tune once you get that Supercharger kit.

Appreciate the heads up man! I'll definitely keep that in mind in my search. Hopefully I can find a nice 2006

Yeah I think I'm going to increase it a bit so I can get an 06. I also really really want laguna blue. At formula D over the weekend I saw about a dozen yellow S's, several reds and blacks and silvers, and a few whites, but not a single blue. I am going to increase my budget a bit and realllyyyy look around for an 06-07 laguna blue.
