Default More questions...

Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is having a good Friday so far. I have test drove a 06 and a 05 model since Tuesday. I am leaning toward the 06 as of now. But I do have a few questions and hopefully you guys can help.

1. How does the convertible top holds up in the rain? I looked at the 05 yesterday and noticed with the top and windows up,there are actually some tiny gaps between the top and the windows. If you are driving in the rain, will water get in the car?

2. The wind noise while I was driving at 70 mph is actually pretty ok. The loudest is actually the exhaust note which I like But I was wondering if anyone gets tired of that exhaust sound after a while. My longest drive would probably be about 4 hours, is the exhaust tolerable?

Thanks!

The top is waterproof - don't know about gaps, the window should push in on the rubber of the roof. Water only gets in when you use a pressure hose at the right angle.

Stock exhaust is fine top down, okay top up - its good if you're ever driven another convertible, but loud if you're coming from a hard top car. I reccommend spending $500-1.5k on a good sound system - the stock radio and speakers are garbage.

Good luck!

And that saves you from reading a good 35 pages in your manual
More time left to read all the other stuff, about oil and such.

A tiny little bit of water is no problem, it's a convertable.
The leather interiour can handle that no problem.
My stock exhaust has never tired me.
Daily driver for a year and a half now.

Good luck

If your area rains a lot, then you just need to put treatment on the top more often. The top will wear out faster (i.e. have holes) if you let the acidic rain sit on the top without treatment/protection. Otherwise, the weathering strips are enough to prevent rain from leaking in. I used to wonder whether the top will hold up water well, until one day my area just started POURING. I drove for about 1.5 hour in bumper to bumper traffic, and I found water inside the car

As far as exhaust goes, the exhaust is actually very quiet. In fact, I find it too quiet. It may sound loud when you are starting up the car, but it's very quiet when you drive it (especially above 30km/h). It was really more the road noise that drives me nuts sometimes. I had a 3 hr trip, and I found the car a little annoying after driving on the highway for 2 hrs for 120km/h or so (because I couldn't hear my cell phone ringing!). However, that could easily be fixed by putting a hardtop (which I never bought ...). And you have to keep in mind that I live in New York/New Jersey area, where most highways are not paved very well (mostly cement instead of ashphalt). Hope this helps ...

Good luck on your purchase!

I use 303 Aerospace Protectant. About $14 for 16oz spray bottle, at my local Murrys auto. I'm very pleased with the results, keeps the top looking like new.
It almost appears that our tops are fabric, but they are not, they are vinyl.
