My first S2000... Virginia
Hello, everyone! I just purchased my first Honda S2000!
It's been long overdue to be honest. I've owned a good number of cars (closing in on 30), 4 of which were Miata's. So now it's time to give Honda's roadster a try.
I didn't want to spend too much because I already have a 2011 Audi S4 as a daily. This would strictly be a weekend car (possibly track car if my friends and I can pull some resources together).
So I looked all over Craigslist for the right one for the right price.
2001 Honda S2000
203,800 miles on the odometer (Title branded: Not-Actual Mileage)
It was originally Silverstone Metallic, but it was repainted Dark Cherry Pearl
Modifications include: Megan Coil-overs, ESR 18" Wheels with stretched tires (not a fan), no-name cheap intake, not sure if OEM front bumper with definitely not OEM lip, random accessories like battery tie-down, shift knob, radiator stays, antenna delete, etc.
Paid $6,750 (Advertised as $8,000)
Onto the pictures!
I know if I spent a bit more, i could of gotten better, but I wanted something cheap so we can tinker with. So why spend an extra 4-5 grand for 70k less mileages when I'd want to rebuild the engine, swap out bushings, overhaul interior/exterior anyways?
The priority right now is to do perform some basic maintenance and get a baseline of completed service history other than what the previous owner told me:
New wheels/tires
New Brake pads
New rear axles

Seems like a decent buy since your plans include a complete refresh anyway. With that many miles it will be due for some major service. The repaint makes me wonder what lies beneath but it may not matter if you are just going to build it up and race it.

Make sure you get the Sport Differential when you buy. Also, get a VCDS cable so that you can unlock settings, check maintenance codes, clear stuff, etc.
Other than that, get a Stage 1 - 93 octane tune and enjoy a reliable and daily driveable 415-444hp (depends on tuner).

Welcome,
if you do FB you will want to join
Another one was made but not a lot of traffic, I think Larry made it. Frustrates me because I think you can get too narrow on too many sites and better to figure out a good size group.
As you know, you'll find answers to all your questions here on s2ki, the bible.
I bought an expensive, modded '07 first, then a 2000 beater and turned it into a track car, got wrecked so got an '02 nice shell and transplanted the track stuff, engine/trans, etc to that so currently own 2-3 of them. Addictive.
