My Spa Yellow AP1 Sasha
Hello S2ki, I recently purchased a beautiful rust free 2002 AP1 from Miami, FL. I flew to Miami from Chicago on my birthday to pick her up, I've been looking at s2000's for about three years now after having the chance to drive my friends when we switched cars, and I've been in love ever since. I spent a few weeks on statewide list, which allows you to browse every state and city on craigslist. I stumbled upon mine in the perfect time, and after seeing a few pictures I knew this is the one, Ap2 front conversion, 17x9 +45 RPF1's (with junk federals I might add 235 front, 255 back), Swift Spec R's, and a Tanabe Medalion. The selling point of this car was that it was maintained pretty well, no engine modifications, and decently low mileage for the year.
It didn't take long for me to bond with the car, I drove 20 hours straight only stopping for a little bit of food and gas, I avg'd 28mpg on the way back, loved how smooth the car felt, but I started hearing a slight tick in the motor that went away as rpm's climbed. I baby'd the car back home at this point cutting my losses and a bit frustrated. During one of the fill ups on the way back I spent about 20-30 minutes researching s2ki for what could be causing the noise, valve adjustment? blown motor? or TCT? This is why I feel obligated to give back to what seems like a great community behind these cars, and hopefully contribute to the wealth of knowledge already present on this board. So anyways, after being up since 8am the previous day I arrived in Chicago around noon, drove straight to my school for a marketing midterm I put off for for my trip (got an A on it mind you). After knocking out the exam, and being up for over 30 hours, I start the car and the ticking was so awful I had to address this issue asap. Drove to my buddies house that help me verify it was the TCT, blasted it, and it started right up after my friend pulled and reinstalled the TCT. The past couple weeks I changed all fluids with amsoil, and an oem filter. Ordered and installed 255/40 rs3's on all corners, pulled the fenders, it's time to actually enjoy the car.
If any of you are instagram my username is tiredbadguy, I follow back fellow s2000 owners.
Here are a few pictures from the trip and the car.
