Default Need Tips for Convincing "The Wife"

Alright, here's the scenario:

Buy = 2007 Silverstone $29,000 plus 6% tax and tags

Trade = 2002 Desert Silver Metallic RSX Type S $10,500 minus sales tax credit on the exchange.

I think it's a pretty good deal. My wife of one year disagees. My problem started when I told her that I would get about $15,000 for my Acura, and I would spend about $24,000 of a used S2000. You can see the difference.

Any ideas on what sort of sales pitch would be necessary to close this deal with "The Wife?"

I started by getting some flowers and a gift. She'll be home later tonight, so I'll keep you posted on the initial outcome. This could take several attempts. I need all the help I can get.

Oh, a few more facts: for the time being we have similar incomes(mine has greater potential for increased income), I recently convinced her to let me buy a $4000 road bicycle, we have the money to buy the S2000 cash.

Thanks for the help.

If you give in to her now you might as well hand her your balls too.

I think a few days of convincing would do it...if you do it without her agreeing, it will become harder for you in the long run! hehe! Just my .02 cents.

Make her feel like she is in control, and later on slowly convince her without her noticing it Don't make it too obvious to her that you are trying to convince her....it is really an art man...take this opportunity as an exercise.

Take your time, as the car will always be there for you to buy...and in the case of cars, it just gets cheaper and cheaper or better and better, the longer you wait. don't let the salesman pressure you into it.

I had the same issue when I wanted to buy a used M3, 3 months after I just got my S2000! hehe! It took me about 3 more weeks to convince her. I just told the guy to hold the car for 1 month for me, as I gave him a non-refundable earnest money!

I make it sound like I'm whipped. That's not the case. I could buy the car without permission, but it's just not worth it. I think I'm almost there.

Thanks for the input.

I have 6 uncles on my Dad's side who all live by the "####-it I don't care what she thinks, I'm gonna do what I want" attitude. And yes, they are all divorced...some multiple times.

But hey...it's your money, right?
