Neophite looking to buy possibly...
Thanks for all the replies.
I am finding it hard to find a used car from a dealership that has the service records. Would you guys buy a car with 40000-50000 miles without service records?
Using Autotrader, here are some of my options:
2000 silverstone, 32000 miles $14900 private seller
2001 Black, 53000 miles $16900 Private seller
2000 Black, 12084 miles $17900 Dealer
2002 Yellow, 43858 miles $17900 dealer
2003 silverstone, 51500 miles $17500 Private seller
2001 NFRed, 25774 miles $18450 Dealer
The 2003 has all service records. Any advice on which ones to pursue?
Thanks

Good luck in your search, pickles. The S is an awesome car which is really relatively easy to use. That said, I recommend taking it easy for the first few weeks/months of ownership. Consider some track time and/or a performance driving class to get the RWD stuff under your belt.
Hey Chris...if you're a bit iffy on getting just listen to my situation.
My S is my first car period. It's also my first manual transmission car. Before getting it, I was only a novice manual tranny driver. See I worked very hard at not grinding the gears or stalling so I kinda forced myself to become a better stick driver.
Not to mention, I'm just a girl....*blushing**

Atleast you can assume that the 2003 with over 50K miles has not likely spent much if any time in the repair shop. I recommend you research and develop a good business relationship with a quality performance firm experienced in repairing, as well as installing additional perfromance enhancements and can expertly tune the engine. You may never desire to improve the performance of your future s2k but at least you will receive a more thorough examination of the mechanical aspects and quality of the car inluding the nature of the seals and numerous other connections plus the compression check of each cylinder of the engine, conditions of the clutch, brakes, etc that will be good information for you to make an informed decision. Perhaps many of these in depth inspections could be done by the local honda dealer. However, since I have never had any BMW or Acura dealer successfully resolve a few electrical problems i have encountered with a variety of BMW and Acura cars previously owned, I tend to avoid dealersips and the higher fees applied to their bills to compensate somewhat for the overhead incurred to maintain such large repair and sales facilities.
Good luck in you quest.
