Red,

Where are you getting that information about Mazda and Kia components in the diff? I have not heard that. I have heard that you can use a Mazda final drive gear in the diff...

AFAIK, the differential is a Torsen-type LSD, designed and built by Honda.

I'm sure Honda did design the diff, but as I understand it they farm production out to Mazda. Mazda gets most of their gears from Kia, and Kia makes a set of 4.10 gears that fit the S, so I assume Mazda uses them. Our Torsen LSD differes from the Mazda LSD in that our LSD's have clutches to supply a little preload. I suspect both are built by Torsen, but I suppose it could have been designed, and built, by Honda.

I'll see if I can find some links. Some of the Miata sites have great informaiton on the various 7" diffs. Not sure where I might find something on the Torsen LSD but I'll see if I can dig anything up.

This site has some good info on the 7" differentials and gears.

According to this page Torsen does make the S2000 LSD.

I can't find anything on the Kia gears, but they do make 7" gear sets for Mazda, including the 4.30's I'm running. Next time I run into something I'll post it up (if I remember and can find the thread ).

got it to launch perfectly today on the 1st try @ 6000........
only tried it that once......
maybe ill take it to the track when i return from japan.....
if i run it down the track once or twice after that it would be the extent of my drag racing this car.....i still have a 97 coupe.....turbo gsr.....for that stuff.....
i got the s2k for its handling capabilities.....i just recently moved to rural tennessee...
the roads here are sooooo amazing! theres a 5 mile stretch of windy road with elevation changes.....a bunch of sharp as well as mild curves...a nice corkscrew section.....all on the way to and from my home......so i truly enjoy driving this car on these roads!
dude i know its not a mustang......ive owned 4 of those over 10 years ago.......
ran a 12.7 with my ol 69 coupe......
then i drove a honda.....ditched the hitch and made the switch......!!!
