New 06 s2k for me
Hello all,
just picked up an 06 yellow s2k with around 25K miles over memorial day weekend in vegas. drove it all the way home to texas.
also own a blue 2009 civic si sedan for when i need to haul more than 1 other person.
quick question, it's been raining bad here lately and i havent had time to clean out the garage to park the S in there. So last night the S sat outside in the rain (although it only lasted for 20minutes). I took it for a drive this morning, and I SWEAR the speedo is off. It said I was doing 45 and I am pretty sure I was only doing 30, as many people were on my ass for going so slow!
any reason the rain might cause some sort of shortage or malfunction in the speedo?
it also seems possible that it would be throwing off the ODO reading as well. i work 2 miles from the office, and it said I had traveled 5.5 miles by the time I got there.
anyone ever experienced this before?
thanks, and will be sticking around the site, already it has proved a valuable resource.

Congrats, you will love the car. As for the speedo issue, the only thing I can think of is if the cars had aftermarket gears installed. The different ratio will cause an error in the speedo but I don't think it would change it that much or affect the odometer. Hmmm.
Welcome!
I agree with the above. The car must have had gears before.
If there is a speedo calibrator installed(look around by the fuse box near the dead pedal in the cabin for any wiring or a small yellow electronic looking thing) it can adjust the mph and that in turn would affect the odometer reading.

Thanks guys, will check it out over lunch.
Car was one of 4 the owner drove, older guy, so don't think he would be doing much modifying. Also, this just happened after the rain storm last night. It was great the entire 1600 mile drive from Vegas to san antonio.
appreciate the headsup though gents

Get a GPS in there to see if the speedometer is off. It could just be you were babying your new car and just cruising and everyone else was in a hurry to work/school wherever. Did you feel like you were going 30? 30 is a really really slow feeling speed on a main road. I bet you were doing 45 but that just wasn't cutting it for the other drivers.
NIPTEK.
I LOVE YOU.
I haven't gone out to check it yet, but I remember before I left I had held down the button to change the trip meter. Then I remember I noticed I was holding the wrong button. Didn't think anything of it.
I bet that's what it was.
What a dummy. LOL
Thanks guys, appreciate the warm welcome!
