Thanks for the list of DIY's you have compiled. The amount of posts I've read about valve adjustment and cracked retainers has got me worried. Wish I comfortable doing that kind of work. Any idea how much it would run me for valve adjustment. I can check the retainers on my own, just cant replace them.

I had a good friend who had just replaced his retainers and performed a valve adjustment on his AP1 help me with my valve adjustment, my 2006 had a couple of tight exhaust valves.

Since you have a 2006 with the upgraded retainers there *should* be no problem, why do you want to check the retainers?

I purchased the car with 58K miles on it. I have never Mechanically Over-reved it but I have no idea how the previous 3 owners drove it.

Welcome! I also recently purchased an 06 and just went through and checked valve clearances. I had two exhaust valves, out of all eight, that were a little on the tight side. I have 22.5k miles on it.

Fair enough. My advice would be to purchase the retainers and have them on hand when you check your current retainers. That way if you find a damaged one you can swap it right then and there. Let us know how yours are holding up.
