Default New to the forums, 2nd S2000

Hello everyone,

My name is Rob and I'm from a small town in Devon, South West England.

I've loved cars since I was a kid, although to begin with I wasn't too keen on the S2000. There was one parked near me for years and whenever we'd drive past, my friend (who was a big fan) would always point it out. He eventually went down the Supra route but my love for the S2000 began to develop and before long I wanted one of my own.

I bought my first S2000 in 2011, a MY01 in Silverstone. It was immaculate. I thoroughly enjoyed driving the car however my fun was cut sort after only a few months of ownership when, late one evening, I aquaplaned on a huge flood on a blind corner and landed the car upside down in a field. I walked away without a scratch but the car was wrecked.

The flood, which covered the entire road at the time of the crash, and the aftermath.

I bought my second S2000 in September 2014. It's a MY03 GT in Silverstone. About a week after buying it I was driving home after a spirited drive and I noticed the CEL had turned on. The car felt absolutely fine and I was close to home, so I slowed down to a crawl and carried on. Once I came to a stop I noticed that the car was juddering slightly, and the CEL began to flash. I left the car until the end of the month and then had the garage strip the head down to diagnose the problem, which turned out to be a snapped valve. Incredibly there was no collateral damage so it was the best of a bad situation. I had the head rebuilt with Brian Crower dual valve springs, steel valves, titanium retainers, keepers and guides. It set me back considerably but the engine felt great and pulled strong through the gears.

I've since been driving the car regularly and enjoying it thoroughly. I have a smile on my face from the moment I get in to the moment I get out, and always look back at it when I'm walking away. It's certainly love!

My second S2000 and my old Prelude sat behind.

I look forward to making some new friends and getting involved with some UK meets in the future!

Cheers
Rob

I know. What really frightened me was that I'd only just put the roof up. Would probably have been a different story entirely otherwise!

Welcome

Regarding this:
bought my second AP1 in September of this year. It's a 2004 model (not sure how, but it is)
That's the year it has been registered with DVLA. However it travelled a fair way from Japan!
Open your bonnet and check the lower right hand side corner for your VIN.
Then pop that here:
http://vindecoder.eu/honda
..and find the REAL production year for your car (together with other info as the factory it was made etc.)

Good point, I'll check that over the weekend. Thanks!

Great thread. I've just had a head rebuild so I'm already ticking things off that list!

Cheers
