Hello all, plan to get an S2000 for my birthday in June. I will use this car for my daily driver, a commute of 30 minutes at 80 mph each way - speeds sometimes hit 90. What will I be taching at those speeds? Will the V-tec be operating at those speeds if I am just cruising, or only if I punch it at those speeds? Any info will be helpful. I have a best friend that has a Porsche GT-3, I get nothing but propaganda from him how the Honda engine won't last because of the high revs, at least with an S2000 you might be avle to rebuild the engine, with the boxter engine and the silicone process they use in the cylinder walls, you can't rebuild it, you just get a new engine, yikes!

THe engine will last, there are many members with high mileage S2ks with no problems... at 80-90 you will be looking at about 4500rpm... no VTEC until 6kish regardless of throttle position. other than that enjoy it and good luck with the search and of course welcome!

It will be screaming but wont hurt it. Like bomber said, there are many S2k's that are driven a lot. Just keep on maintenance.

Maybe you should get some seat time in one on the highway - some have found it not to be the best highway car (like me)

Thanks for all the advice, I realize that an S2000 may not be the best highway car, but since my commute is only 30 min., I am hoping I can take it.

I drive 30 mins on the highway fairly regularly... although its not as nice as say my fiance's Buick on the highway (talking about noise here) it is not unbearable by any stretch IMHO

I've taken mine on long roads trips and I'm very happy with it. It's really a subjective matter which is why we always say test drive, test drive, test drive.
