engine questions
The S2000 engine simply isn't that high tech. It's just an very well built engine with average technology. It only has 4 valves per cylinder. I has a relatively long stoke and isn't actually optimized for high RPM. It's specific output isn't really much better than the current BMW M engines; the only reason it's higher at all is due to smaller displacement/less friction due to fewer cylinders. These are facts. Ultimately, VTEC is no more effective than anyone else's version of variable valve control.
Oh yeah, Honda didn't invent VTEC, either. VTEC was invented by a company in Michigan who first approached GM, who of course were too stupid to be interested in it.

Big TT,
As many others have posted in the past, there is nothing new under the sun with regard to engines. Turbos, superchargers, variable valve timing, high rpm engines, etc., etc. have all been done for 75 years.
The important point, to quote you, is "It's just an very well built engine ". It will last forever, it is low-emissions, and it generates lots of horsepower. Who cares about the rest?
If you are looking for a flame war, I would post this stuff at a different Honda site.
