I recently purchased my 1st S2K after years of wanting one. While out car shopping I stumbled across this gem of an AP1. Why is it a gem you may ask... how about 29k miles on an 02 for starters

Bone stock all the way down to the original tires. I'll try and get some other pictures up some time but for now I look forward to being part of this community. Glad to be here!

You'll fint the extra 1000rpm of Vtec is wonderful! I've only driven 1 AP1 and the difference was noticeable.

Original tires? I'd start looking for new tires today though. It's not just tread wear that makes tires no-good. The car looks too good to mess with other than maybe some AP2 17" wheels -- ya need tires anyway! Early decision is car use. Extreme performance summer tires wear at twice the rate of "touring' tires -- but provide a lot more cornering grip.

Hit the maintenance section, there are things these cars need every few years regardless of mileage including brake fluid and engine coolant. And probably transmission and differential oil as well. These need more than just an oil change.

Thanks for the tips! The tires are obviously 1st thing on my list. I just thought it was funny finding an 02 car with original tires on it. What's the general consensus on best tires for around 6-800 at the moment? I see so many choices all with their own pros and cons.

 

You can get good tires for much cheaper than that if you're just wanting them for day-to-day driving and maybe a bit of fun on regular roads; I'm a huge fan of the BFG g-Force Sport COMP-2's. Summer tires, decent amount of grip, do suprisingly well in the cold / wet (still summer tires though). I pretty much always run these on my S.
