Default New GPW 2005 Owner - And a Warning on ANOTHER 05

Hi, everyone. Pulled the trigger on a sweetheart this last weekend.

2005 GPW
Tan interior w/ newcar smell!
All stock
15xxx miles
XM Installed/Active

Prevous 1 owner had 3 other cars, and this one was clearly loved and maintained. But there is a story behind the happy ending.

My father and I drove from Dallas, TX to Lafayette, LA last weekend to see a NFR 2005 w/ 24xxx miles (all stock, no extras; VIN # JHMAP2144fS000137). Price was a great deal and CARFAX did check out - for what its worth. After a ~6 hour drive when we headed out @ 06:30am on Saturday, we pulled into a gorgeous 70ish degree day. Perfect. The day....but not this car.

After a test drive and inspection away from the dealership with my father (a 40+ year master mechanic), it was apparent that:
(a) the car had been in some type of accident - minor to medium in nature
(b) the front fascia was cracked in two places

Nice color combo! Good that you had your dad with you. Do you think you would have noticed any of those things if he was not with you?

Thanks! I didn't realize that about my profile.

I probably would have eventually noticed all those things if my dad wasn't there if I continued to keep my emotions in check (excitement) and was methodical about the review of the car. Logically, one thing would have snowballed into another when hunting down the problems.

Hmm...missing inner fender liner.....why would that be.....maybe a wreck? let's check the front end....and so on....

But with him there, it brought an acknowledged voice to the party. My own private PPI!

Nice job and color!

It took me 3 months to find the S2K that I wanted. But it was well wroth it.

The first S2k I looked at had a couple door dings, which being a used car I can deal with, but upon opening the hood I realized that there have been repairs made to the front bumper (VIN numbers missing, paint on places that shouldn't have it), some minor parts missing, an after market battery terminal intended for amplifiers, and plug missing from door panel. While test driving I noticed an Audi A4 being test driving by another customer on their lot will blue smoke coming from the exhaust. Needless to say I handed the keys back to the dealer and walked away. Oh this was CarMax by the way, would never shop there again.

Second one I looked at was mint, not a scratch any where, a 2004 CPO in Spa Yellow at a Honda dealer, but wouldn't budge on the price of $24,800.

Third one, another CPO, but had the passenger side door obviously repainted; a small ridge was present showing where they have applied masking tape.

Enjoy your new ride!
