Default new guy looking to buy s2k.. need advice

hello everyone,
im hoping to have an s2k within the next few months and need some info on these cars. the more i read about them the more i want one!
im in the process of stripping my 300+ hp astra. so once some money is free i can find the perfect S!
basically what are the best models to have?
anything i need to look out for when buying an s2k? common faults? anything worth looking for?
whats considered high milage for these engines?
and what are they like to drive? bet they feel great once you hit the vtec!

The best model is the one you end up buying.

For '02 and older, you might want to upgrade theoil jet bolts.
For every year you want to make sure that the rear axle nuts are torqued properly.

I don't think high mileage is an issue for the engine.
Test drive one.

pretty much, you got it.. and dont worry about those right off the bat, our resident s2ki mechanic guru explains that unless you plan on making high high rpm passes at the track over and over you will be fine. Id like to tell you too that sounds like a nice deal, 57k is nothing on an S! and it sounds unreal but if the s2000 is maintained basically there really are no faults.. lots of querks but no faults unluke ALL other cars ive owned

Not a lot of huge differences...the earlier models AP1's have a 9k redline the later models have a bit lower. The later models also have different headlights/bumpers/taillights. One thing you want to inspect closely is the top, you don't want to have to replace the top just after purchase...they are a bit on the pricey side. You could install one your self, but I have heard anywhere from 1 to 2K for a decent top.

i have to agree, the perfect s is the one YOU buy! and getting some of the bugs out and the whole process of making it perfect is kinda like dating~ you should enjoy the whole process and get to know your new baby!
