Default New here, Evo 8 Owner

I have a 2004 EVO VIII GSR (SSL), mostly stock with some bolt ons.. 255lph Fuel pump, full turboback Exhaust, Bigger Intercooler, K&N panel, Magnacore wires, Volk wheels, and KW V3 coilovers..

I wish I had an S2000 too, maybe if I see a good deal I'll jump on it.

I didn't go from from an evo to a s2k but I did go from a MKII MR2 and will assure you that you will enjoy the transition. I know I don't miss working on the MR2, especially my back!

I would give the ap2 a test drive and see how you like it. Everything we say is subjective.

Here's some history for you, and you can see my insanity first hand

First, I had an s2000 (wasn't really my first car, but all the ones I had before it sucked)

Thought, STI has a back seat, awd, and is fAstR. Bought said 2004 sti, then sold it a year later and back to the s2k. Sti was fast yet boring.

Then I said, self, the Evo IX MR is a good cross between the sti and s2k... so I bought that. I was running around 340 whp but mitsu QC being what it is struck (engine was fine, body leaks abounded, electrical glitches, crappy interior etc) so now I'm back on my 3rd s2k

Between the sti and evo, the evo drove better but the sti was built better. The s2k is built better than both of them and hell of lot more fun to drive.

I have surrendered to fate, I'm keeping this one!

Thanks guys, I'm thinking of parting out some things outta my Evo and sell it.. I work on the weekdays and my commute is only about 2-3 miles, I go to the mountains sometimes on the weekends to cruise so the S2000 would probably suit me better!

You won't get any argument here that the Evo drives itself. That's what I like about it on the street, but not the track. I had a heavily modified Evo 8 track day car that I finally sold as a rolling chassis after the motor blew for like the 5th time.

I have an Evo 9 MR for my daily driver -- totally bone stock with 82K on to odo -- I love it.

I've had the AP1 for about three weeks - terrific car. Consider an AP1 - the 9000 rpm redline alone is worth the price of admission.

About the AP1, I was told by friends not to buy it because the AP2 is a better built car.. Better motor and suspension geometry?

tell your friend he hasn't road in my ap1 with a t1r 70mm single sreaming at 9000 rpms! the early ap1 is the most pure driver car. after that they came with alot of creature conforts and crap. Although if you can afford a cr get it!

to me its either cr or ap1 but the choice it ultimatly up to you!

Nonsense, Ap1's are waaaaay more fun to drive on a twisty road. The handling on Ap1's is MUCH sharper. Ap2's are kinda boring IMHO.

You just have to find one in good condition, that has been treated the right way. For Ap1, you should look for a 2002-2003. Although, I think you should drive both an Ap1 & Ap2, so you can decide for yourself which one you like better. If you're thinking Ap2, I would go for a CR.
