Default New from Japan with a few ?'s

Hi guys, I'm living in Tokyo, Japan and recently just acquired a used S2000 from a local company introduced to me by a friend. There's not much activity in the Japan subsection, so thought I'd post here. There's a huge helping of information on here, so still absorbing as much as I can.

Also thought I'd point out to you that this company, Japan Auto Direct, that I purchased from also does exporting of japanese cars around the world. I met with an American who works there, his name's Danny, and he helped me get the car that I wanted.

Anyway, my previous car was a Prelude, so I'm not new to the honda world, but I am new to the RWD world. Does anyone know of a Japanese S2000 forum in Japan? I'd like to meet and chat with some of the locals. Should anyone come around to Tokyo, feel free to holler at me.

Cheers!

Congrats! There is a forum for Japanese owners: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showforum=100

But ya, there are a few companies that do car imports and exports. I see that a lot of them have tons of AP1s, but less AP2s. That probably reflects the fact that fewer people bought S2000s in the later years when Fairlady was so popular? I don't know.

Nevertheless, I wish there is a Hong Kong S2K forum here. I dunno any other S2K owners here sniff sniff

Hey Ks320, I have a cousin in HK, do you know if you can import Japanese cars into HK? He wants a GT-R and has the money for it. Do you know any import shops in HK?

I lived in Tokyo for 8 years. Haven't been back there for almost 7 years. Really miss it. Comparing Tokyo to Vancouver is like comparing a city to a farmland. That still holds true even if you compare Tokyo 7 years ago and Vancouver right now.

cool! I bumped into a kool s2k owner the other day in Ueno, and we had a quick chat. He said he's also looking for some forums to meet some locals in the area. Have any forums that you frequent here in Japan?

btw, turns out he knows about the company that I bought from, they've had quite a reputation for being in the business for a while. They're able to get the vehicles so cheap because they buy from auction, where everyone's shakken is about to run out. www.japanautodirect.com check them out. i'm thinking of buying a beater fit to take around daily

Hey, send me a PM. I know people who import cars from Japan -- just like how they imported mine from Japan.

Which GTR is he looking at? The R34? or the R35? They have plenty of R35s in Hong Kong -- all imported and had emissions taken care of. They run for around 1.05 to 1.20 million HKD depending on what options you want. The shop that I got my car from had a fully loaded R35 one in charcoal. Looks beautiful. Also saw a white one -- not so good in person. But if you are looking for R34s, they would need a bit more time in finding the right one. Because a lot of them had been through accidents. I saw a purple one on sale 2 months ago in mint condition, but then it was sold recently for about 480K.

Anyway, send me a PM with your email. I can arrange your cousing to talk to the guys directly. That shop I went to sells a lot of exotics, ranging from Exiges to GT3 RSs. Or my other friends could also import cars as well. But your cousin most likely would have to go with them to Japan if he's looking for R34s, to check out the condition and everything. Then the shops could arrange the paper work, etc
