Thanks for the post Cubble... those look really good and would be a great alternative. I think I've been talked out of aftermarket wheels for now and will stick with the stock AP2V1s for now and focus on getting sticky tires. Thanks for the advice, all. Trunk net goes in tonight.

Anybody have recommendations for an S2000-knowledgeable mechanic in Northern Va, DC, or Southern Maryland? I've taken the car to P-Tuning once and no complaints about their work, but they definitely charged a lot.

Apologies, this isn't about your latest question, but I'm here to inform about the S2000 wheel choices.
The S2000 requires higher offest for proper fitment. Many wheel sizes like the 17x9 +around 30 that normally fits other cars like the 240SX and Lancer Evolution 8/9 would poke too far out for the S2000. Even with 3 degrees camber and rolled fenders, it won't fit.
17" wheels is best for a stock body S2000 IMO. Best Motoring did a video and found that the S2000 performs better with 17" than 16" wheels. The S2000 CR wheels you are considering are 17".
If you don't want to roll your fenders, you'll probably stuck with near OEM specs. Advan RSII and Volk Racing CE28N has wheel sizes in S2000 friendly offsets: 17x8 +54 on the front, and 17x9 +63 on the rear. Use 225/45R17 tires up front, and 255/40R17 on the rear.

Thanks _badrabbit and jonner! Wheel choices are definitely limited, especially in 17". I checked out the Advan RSII and Volk CE 28N's you suggested -- they're decent looking but pretty expensive. There are more choices in 18" wheels, but it's hard to know what will fit without rubbing and I don't plan to roll the fenders. Plus 18" wheels are pricey and will probably worsen performance. Prior posters in this thread convinced me to stick with the OEM wheels + good summer tires for a season at least and see what I think about upgrading the wheels then. I'll probably buy a used set of wheels if it comes to that.
Thanks for the advice!

Great advice here. I stuck with the AP2V1 wheels, which have really grown on me, and replaced the original tires (!) with summer tires (Michelin PS4) -- glad I didn't waste money on aftermarket wheels or compromise with UHP all-seasons. The handling on the Michelin PS4s is sublime. I've brought the car to Ben at Daisy Auto who looked through the car thoroughly and changed the fluids and adjusted the valves. The dents in the left front and right front fenders have been repaired and the color matched perfectly.
Mods so far are minimal and mostly functional: JDM wide-angle driver-side mirror, Broadway 10" flat blue mirror (clips on the OEM mirror), Honda Access floormats, Modrify console organizer, Alpine receiver with Modrify remote adapter, SuperNova map lights (super bright), Fortem trunk organizer (fits perfectly), RedlineGoods shift boot (black Nappa leather with yellow stitching). And the car's been thoroughly detailed.

"Painting the inset portion and leaving the diamond cut face" nicely changes the wheels appearance making them appear lighter. Surprised this isn't more common.
Anyone got a photo of the AP2V2 wheels painted like this? Just curious. As my car gets farther from it's build date I appreciate the OEM appearance more and more. Doesn't mean I didn't or won't make tiny tweaks like round exhaust tips in lieu of the Accord exhaust tips that were standard on my '06.
