Default New member from Alabama seeking an S2000

So, I want to know how you ( all members ) feel about your S2000. I have had 2 Honda's 94 Accord and now 97 Civic. I have wanted an S2000 since they first came out. Sadly enough as we all know the S is no longer in production so finding the right one makes it even more difficult. I work as as an automotive service advisor at a dealership and we had an 02 traded in the other day and I know what they gave the customer for trade in so I knew for a fact it would definately be in my price range. So immediately after the deal was done I went searching for the keys. I get to the car and the first thing I saw the hideous body kit....now to some it may be your taste but I am more of a fan of the clean simple look...lip kit and maybe a body kit if it was mild and clean look. So, hop in and and notice it was a little over 90,000 on the odometer....not a big deal cause as well all know the Honda's we own will probably outlive us if they are taken care of right. Car handled great and drove great but......ok here is my rant........... everytime I hit a bump the rear end rattled ( maybe the body kit? ) and it had a very loud exhaust system ( aftermarket header catback exhaust ). So basically driving seeing this car was like waving a piece of meat in front of a tiger. The car I wanted and in my range but just not a good experience. No I know that this particular S was probably not the best choice to drive to determine if this was a car I really wanted or not but there is not a lot of S's in my area ( have only seen 3 since moving to a new area little over a year ago ) so this was the first shot I had to give it a test. Now what I'm looking for is just your opinions like how you feel about your S, the pros and cons and all that. I have had great luck in my Civic forum I am member of asking tech questions and what not and from what I saw online this was the top S2000 forum around. I still want an S just not as bad as I did before I drove the one at work.....just think it wasn't the right one to drive. After months of searching online the lower mileage ones, sometimes still new are 25,000 and up. Those would probably be the car I go for seeing I know they have been untouched. Any help and info would be great even though I am not an S2000 owner............yet!

Thanks in advance!
Bo

Just bought a 2006 S2K with 20,xxx miles on it. My car is stock and in excellent condition. I get no rattle from the rear end. I'm more inclined to believe your issue was was from the body kit. Also, the car is rather quiet with the stock intake and exhaust. I did test drive another S2K about 2 years ago in Huntsville, AL that sounded like it had marbles rolling around in tubes. This is a known problem with some S2Ks and, from what I understand, an easy fix. Since I've only had my car for a week, I haven't found any cons that I didn't already know about. The car doesn't have an adjustable steering wheel, and parts are expensive.

One thing that I haven't had happen, knock on wood, is getting my seats stolen. Apparently, people like to steal the S2K seats.

edit: grammar and spelling

Yea see I was hoping for a repsonse like yours and it makes me feel a lot better. The one I drove had 90,xxx miles on it and that hideous kit. Ofcourse as cars get older and higher mileage it will grow new sounds and depends on how well it was taken car of. It had a short shift kit in it as well and no one puts them in just for the heck of it so I'm sure it's been ran hard over the years. Part prices don't really bother me since I work at dealership I use my dealership name when I call the Honda place to get stuff for my Civic so I get parts at wholesale which is a lot cheaper than the counter price. I know parts for an S are going to be a lot more than my 97 Civic but atleast I wouldn't have to be full cost and I can do the labor myself so should be good there. If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for your S? As far as what I've seen online searching anything lower milage is 20g's and up. Thanks again for replying back your comments make me feel a lot better!

The asking price was $23,995. I talked them down to $21,450. Wholesale price for the car is $20,330.
