Hey everyone! Found this site when I was researching s2ks and wanted a place that had quality, non-ricer information.
So... I don't actually have an S2000 yet. I should in another couple weeks though, gotta get all the paperwork done and talk to the important people first. I had been looking at mazdaspeed miatas for a long time but a friend of the family tempted me with their s2000. It's a MY2000 silverstone grey with a black-red interior. They've been thinking about selling it now for a couple years and here's what sold me: it's not a daily driver, it's been garage-kept, superbly maintained and did I mention only has 11k miles! I should have some pictures I can put up here in like a week I hope.
Now I have a general question for everyone. What are the first handful of things I should do once I get it? First person who says turbo loses I'm guessing it'll be things like check all fluid levels, make sure recalls/TSBs have been applied, etc etc. While things like exhaust, suspension, blah blah blah will come at some point I would like to enjoy it as is for awhile.

I'm excited to join this forum and can't wait till I can participate and add to the discussions. I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions and yes I know what a search button is.
Cheers,
Phil

Check fluids, check your battery since the car has been sitting for most of its life, check the tires...all that fun stuff.

Turbo is nice, but it usually comes with a headache

Exhaust and intake, then suspension and breaks.

You've came to the right place if you have any questions. You have the right idea....drive the car as it is for awhile...you may like it just as it sits. Many do. With only 11k miles that car sounds like quite the find.

I was originally hoping to steal it away for $11k or $12k but they knew it was worth more than that. They were wanting in the $15k range but when I check it out again I'm going to offer $13k and see if they bite. Hoping to get out of there for under $14k.

13k sounds reasonable... the low milage kinda is a concern as well. Make sure you get on it to 9k and look behind you and see if you have any blue exhaust. Also, listen carfully for ticking coming from the motor. Generally motors like these like to be driven more then 1,500miles a year. Good luck

Well I may be getting this car far quicker than I was expecting. My current car could possibly be sold in the next few days so to prevent going carless I'm hurrying up my buying process. I should have pics tomorrow evening and may own it by mid next week. Also, a fun fact I learned about it today: it's never been taken out in the rain/snow.

just out of curiosity, what would the ticking mean?

i doubt valves would be ticking with 11k miles. more than likely if theres any ticking it might be piston slap when the motor is cold or a bad timing chain tensioner. best bet would be to have a mech look at it.
