Default New member - Old Man needs advice

Hi all. I getting a 2001 AP1 next week and wanted to know what I should look for when I go to look at it. What questions should I ask the owner about the car before I drive 8 hours to get it, The car is a 2001 Yellow with 175K miles on it. By the pictures it looks great, but of course looks can be deceiving.

Thanks in advance! Earl

Thanks. I'm 70, so this will be my last sports car. I'm going to sell my 1991 Miata and this car will be the replacement. As soon as he gets the title I'm taking an 8 hour drive to get it. Been wanting one since I saw the 1st one 2010. It was setting on a car lot next to the Prius my wife wanted and I could not talk her out of it.

Really excited about finally getting a S2000!

With that many miles consider a compression test.

Ok, I have another question. IS the 2004+ years cars that much better and worth the extra price? If so why?

Thanks, Earl

Welcome, for me it was an easy decision because I have plans to modify mine & want the ease of tuning with the use of Hondata FlashPro like I had used on my MY07 Civic Si.

So, this question opens up a can of worms here at s2ki. There are varying opinions. Some will answer yes. Some will answer no. Some will answer its quite the opposite and they prefer the ap1.
Rather than have yet another thread where the members all voice their individual viewpoint, my suggestion is that you do some reading on all the existing threads where this is discussed. You can search ap1 v ap2 on this search engine, or even on google. Tons of stuff. After you have read all that - if your questions remain - then maybe come back with any questions. Just a thought. I am going to hold my fire as far as expressing my opinions again because I know a little reading will likely answer all the questions you have.
