New member of the S2000 Coven in CT
Greetings, I'm copying this, my 1st post, to see if it's more appropriate to place it here, thanks! I've inadvertantly 'stepped on" a UK-based topic, so I hope this is a better place to begin. Feel free to let me know. I'm no genius, and am a confirmed Luddite, to boot!
After lurking for a few days, I opted to register & make my introductions: Poignantly, I picked up my '05 Suzuku Blue S2000, from a private seller, on the same day as the tragedy in Newtown, CT,underscored that I am a Connecticut guy, not too far from Sandy Hook. Despite the irony of my thrill finally getting it, and the events surrounding that day, it is a fantastic car, and I'm smitten by it.
I'm a true car nut, and have three other collector cars in my stable. One of my cars, a marvelous Porsche Carrera Targa, was crushed by Sandy, and I was inspired to seek an affordable Porsche substitute, the nice 911's getting just too expensive. And the parts ain't cheap! If this isn't inappropriate, I am compelled to plug Hagerty collector car insurance--despite the post-"hurricane" conditions in New England, they were at my door, semingly instantly, and treated me like a King. Do consider them, my experience was just perfect.
So, the Honeymoon ensues, and I'm really thrilled with the car. I took off the front license plate holder, and got the little color-matched plugs for the holes at the local dealer, and some of the crushable washers for the oil sump plug. The car has been truly pampered by the reluctant seller (three cars--two car garage, you get the picture) and warranty-maintained by a CT dealership, but they used a blend of synthetic & traditional oil, which seems dumb to me. So, soon it's Mobil 1 for my new toy. The prior steward didn't drive the car in the Winter, but I plan to, on dry days, of course. So,the 20-30W is good all year long?
I'm not an audiophile, but I'm disappointed with the stereo, tho' won't go haywire: maybe just some new speakers, to see if that gives a bit more "life" to the sound. Suggestions? Is it a difficult swap? Initial research at Crutchfield gives two recommendations, one for $50, and one for $100. I welcome any advice, and greetings to all out there!

I'd suggest something other than Mobil1. AMSOIL seems to be a popular choice but there are some other acceptable options. Nothing wrong with a regular/synthetic blend. 10w30 is what most people use but some opt for 0w30 for cold starts... something you might look into. The Under The Hood (UTH) sub-forum would be a good place to start.
Definitely recommend upgrading the door speakers. Check the Electronics section for some suggestions. The swap itself is fairly simple but, depending on the thickness of the new speakers, you may have to trim the baskets.
