new owner of a 2005 nfr s2k oh yeah
Hi s2ki,
I have been waiting a month and some change to pull a trigger on a s2k. It is a 2005 with 37k on it. It cost me a pretty penny 18k, but it is in decent condition. there are some minor integrity issues for it being a 7 year old car that are a bit disappointing. The main thing that is bother me is rock chips on one of the headlights. these arent normal rock chicks these are horrible. So my first question would be is there a way just to replace the clear plastic outside casing or do i have to replace the entire headlight? all in all this is my dream car and i like to fix and modify so it is perfect for me. I am coming from a 2008 cobalt ss which i sold for 17500. so another plus is i have no car payment!! but now i am broke haha.
s2k vs 08 cobalt ss comparison
my cobalt ss was a great car but i was over front wheel drive. I think my cobalt was easier to launch and may be a little faster. the torque of the turbo makes it seem faster. however i wouldnt be surprised if it is only .250-.50 faster in the quarter if that. the s2k is hard to launch i dont want to dump the clutch and have been launching it around 2-3k. the shifter on my cobalt ss was solid however the s2k just feels better. throws seem shorter and i love the gearing. 4th gear on the interstate is nice. i hate sunroofs but my cobalt had one. the s2ks drop top is lovely even in southeast virginia where it is sooo hot. i just turn the a/c on hah. the handling on the cobalt is great but the s2k seems tighter. i have yet to push her to its limit because im still learning. the power delivery on the cobalt was like a surge the s2k is smooth and linear. i think the design of the powertrain and gearing is perfect. i havent broke traction during hard acceleration in a turn. again i am not pushing her too much but a little bit. i love the cockpit. not a big fan of the digital dash but the feel and comfort is awesome. I am not a small guy either 205lbs and around 6'1. my buddy described it well. he has a 5th gen si. he called my cockpit a fighter jet and his a spaceship.
Anyways I am rambling and i need an editor to help with this post. please dont flame i am still excited. thanks for listing! also 2005 is my favorite year. old seats and no drive by wire.
