New owner in Canada
Hello everyone!
A bit about myself, before I get to the car. I'm 24 and live in Edmonton, Alberta. I've been into cars for as long as I can remember, and two years ago I received my Red Seal Journeyman certificate in Automotive Service. I've worked for Honda for the past five and a half years, and in 2014 was named the top Honda technician in Canada by Honda Canada. I've raced stock cars since I was 14, with a three year break as I transitioned into having a career and living on my own.
I originally raced Dodge and GM four cylinders on pavement, but when I picked things up again I built a 1987 CRX with a friend of mine, and we shared driving duty on clay/dirt. For the 2015 season I decided I needed my own car as I was having way too much fun to keep sharing, so I built a 2003 EP3 hatchback with a K20Z3 from a 2006 Civic Si. This car is great and will be my primary ride for the 2016 season as well, but once the bug had bitten me I got my mind set on finding an S2000 so I could get some practice in a rear wheel drive car before eventually moving up into the V8 stuff (or not, our four cylinder division is really fun and very competitive).
I know some people would consider turning a car like the S2000 - which was intended for road courses - into a dirt oval star to be near sacrilege, so I had to make sure I was going to be cutting up an example that had already seen it's fair share of abuse. I had originally been seeking a high mileage car, or maybe a write off, and had come close a few times to buying cars that would suit my needs but for various reasons those deals fell apart. I finally found one though, and although it does have some issues it can all be dealt with.
Last week I picked up a JDM 2000 S2000 in black (not that the colour really matters). The previous owner had been in an accident and completely wiped out the left front corner of the car, set off the airbags, etc. The frame seems straight enough though, and damaged suspension isn't really any issue. I plan to start myself a build thread and keep everyone updated on the progress of the car; as far as I know no one else has ever turned an S2000 into an oval track car although I know some classes use the powertrain. As a byproduct of the build I'm going to have a huge amount of parts for sale, I plan to get a membership and make a nice garage sale topic.
Anyway, enough words, time to let some pictures do the talking.
