Default new owner! woohoo!

Hey Guys

New owner here. Been waiting for 5 years for this moment and I am so stoked. I got an 06 Formula Red with 53K on it. What should I do now? Any ceremonies? I already took it to in-n-out (im in cali) hehe

What should I change/look to inspect?

Initial observations:
> notchy shifting (but i hear this is somewhat normal)
> im worried the seats are not original, theyre leather though
> the instrumentation panel looks a little foggy than I would expect, but its not hard to read or anything like that

Excited to be here!

Niko

Hey Niko. I am a newb as well. Very excited for you. Had mine 2 days and have to stop myself from wanting to go out and drive it. Worried abou the seats? Did you get a carfax check on it? I saw one recently and it had the seats stolen, but the dealer added new ones. Only thing i learned is to check your brake fluid. Underfilled will cause the light to stay on and maybe overfilled as well. Good luck to you with your car, Lee.

Hey Scream!

You wouldnt happen to be in Cali would you? Funny you mentioned that I was checking one out the dealer was trying to sell me one with cloth seats saying they were legit; haha come on man. Mine are leather but they dont have s2000 embossed on them... for some reason i keep thinking the OEM has s2000 on em.

What are your thoughts on the shifter? Is it smooth for you or what?

Niko

congrats man. enjoy her. Id have a qualified s2k mechanic go over her. check out billmans thread. he worked on mine and found tons of little things such as bad coilpacks, bad sparkplugs, bad diff, and did other stuff like install his custom tct and adjusted my valves. drove totally different afterwards and i had peace of mind. rip on her all the time and runs like a champ. welcome and enjoy man

Welcome. A good start is to search this forum and the other, S2000, for advice and problem fixes.

Good starting point is to replace all the fluids. You can save $ and learn a little about the S doing it yourself. Its pretty easy really. Change the diff, transmission, brake, clutch, and oil. You may find notchy shifting will go away especially when car is warmed up. Take a look sometime at Billmans thread on tightening the spindle nuts on the rear axle. Its easy too with the right tools. Mine has 36K miles and it needed to be done; it was too loose.

Lots of folks in Cali. I am east of Sacramento.

Enjoy!
