Default New owner of wrecked AP2 in Portland

Hi all,

I have been wanting an S2k for a long time and finally a good deal came up at the insurance auctions in my area for a wrecked one. I bought it and I'm in the process of getting it back on the road. I may re-sell it, but chances are I'll fall in love with it and keep it forever.

I have been a Miata guy for years and still have a Miata build in progress. If you want to read more about those escapades, you can see my thread below (hope it's not against the rules to post a link to another forum...)

My link

It's a long read.

Anyway, I'm hoping to find a few parts here and learn a lot more about the cars. I've already learned a ton from reading around, so thanks to all for the great information source you have here!

Ed

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm still on the hunt for several parts. I'm trying to find out specifically if AP1 and AP2 rear upright/knuckle/spindles are different. It seems that they're different part numbers but some say they are interchangeable? Weird. Trying to sort that out.

Also need a fender, seat belts, front bumper cover, and a few other things.

This is getting EXPENSIVE.

I know that feeling. Parts on the S2k are not inexpensive. I don't know about interchangeability for the suspension parts, but I bet the guys who frequent the suspension part of the board would know. Good luck!

Thanks again for the extra welcomes.

Indeed, some more searching turned up the part numbers and even some anecdotes regarding funky handling when interchanging the knuckles.

AP2 only knuckle it is.

Found a source for the whole corner, however, I've already bought the control arms Guess I can always re-sell them, most likely that's what I'll be doing.

Just need passenger airbag, seat belts, front bumper, fender, the ridiculous airbag ecu and crash sensors that are one time use only

Getting there though.
