Thumbs down New Potential Buyer

Hey I'm new to the forums, and I'm looking at purchasing an s2000 in the near future. I just sold my 325is, and although I love that car, I really need something more sporty. I've been comparing the two different models, (2000-2003, or 2004+) and after testing out both, i notice that the two different models both have strenthgs and weaknesses.

i know all of you are much more knowledgable than me with these cars, so any input to help me with my decision would be great. thanx

PS.
-has any AP2 owner had any problems with cracking driveshafts from all the extra torque?

no

there is more torque, but not that much that it would snap your driveshaft.

Well, maybe the driveshaft wouldn't break, but all that extra torque must really be something. I mean, 9 pound feet is pretty impressive. I need the extra torque down low in the "sweet spot" (800-2100 rpms) because we all know that real perforemance driving happens most often in this region of the powerband. From what i have heard, the AP2 would be much better because of its monstrous torque. Also, the quieter engine and lower redline compared to the AP1 can only add to the thrill of high perforemance driving.

lol. Get a AP2 if your budget allows it. the AP1's are and i hate to say this, subpar. honda needs to add, disassemble motor every 60K to the schedule A matintence on all AP1's.

um... add about 3 grand to that. In my old 3000GT and Eclipse, things didn't get interesting until I got above 3500rpm. They even idled above 800rpm.

With my new S2000, I imagine I'll be keeping the revs well above 6 grand on the track.

Personally, I have fallen madly in love with my AP1, but I understand the AP2 to be an improvement and would have bought newer, but it wasn't in the budget.
