I also live in South Florida and am a previous owner of an E46. I would post pictures but I can't seem to figure out how. In any case, the transition from the E46 to the S was easy for me. No regrets, no doubts, no looking back. The E46 looked great (M3 front, angle eyes, staggered 19s, M3 lip spoiler, clears, eyebrows, etc + factory sports package), was torquey, sounded great (Dinan CAI, Dinan exhaust), handled and braked well, etc. But in the end, it was pricey as hell to maintain, and it wasn't sporty enough. I bought that car to get away from fast sporty cars (before it I owned a 300whp turbocharged Nissan 240sx with the works) but that could only last for so long.

With the Bimmer, I received lots of praise, compliments, and such but I wasnt really happy. Now, with the S, its all smiles. Granted its not a very fast car out of the box, its definitely a joy-maker nonetheless.

PS: Dave, by the way you are tracking and beating on the 330, I take it that you are not worried about the notorious rear subframe issues they tend to have. I hated always having to baby the car cause I didnt want my subframe to crack and rip from under me.
Ahh...someone who understands me! I have been ready for more raw car for a while - I guess it was just finding the right one.

As for the subframe, I've actually had the reinforcement kit done and poly bushings in the rear so the subframe is the last of my worries.

Like you said, I've never driven a car and had a smile for that long on my face...and I have driven quite a few cars - many with double and triple the power of the S2000 but there's just something about that little car that makes me crack one from ear to ear and gets my heart pounding like crazy.

For someone that isn't looking for a driver's car...the E46 is all the sport you could want but that's no where near enough for me right now...I just want something fun...

Dude...leaving my German roots - you kidding me? You guys are some of my best friends - a different car doesn't change that!

Besides...I am going to need some company when you finally decide to get another one.

See you this weekend, buddy.

NO!!!

I don't take drifting seriously...it's just a fun way to waste some old tires for me.

I'm buying it because I love the car and I want something that is more competitive in my local auto-x...we have an insane A-stock class...

Besides...going fast > sideways...

hey David, this is Martin from Baybimmers... i felt the exact same way you describe above... as you know, i also have an E46 330... i still have mine as a 2nd car... but man... the S2K puts the simile on my face... minimalist refinement is what id call it... its raw refinement... amazing value of a sports car that runs with a lot more expensive cars, but offers a connected race-car feel...

I've owned a couple BMW's myself, an '01 330Ci and a '95 M3 Sport. Welcome to the fold, you won't find a better sports car for the money anyway. Everything you need, and nothing you don't.

A quick tip too, if you plan to sell your Bimmer, hide those pics.
