Default New S2000 owner checking in!

I've now had my S2000 for a couple of weeks and have been lurking about for a while, so I thought it would be good to say hello!

I've bought a 04 plate with 36k miles on the clock, which I thought was pretty low for its age. Its Nurburgring Blue, with the blue leather interior and completly stock at the moment. I'm hoping to upgrade it over time, starting with the air intake, exhaust and then the stereo.

Now a question! The car is marked as a AP1 (and red lines at 9k ) BUT from what I can tell, there are parts which seem to be from an AP2. The body work seems to be the later model and the centre console is the same. Is possible I have a mixture of both as I seem to ? What can I check to be sure ?

BTW, thanks for all the information on these forums. They let me get very informed before making my purchase and are giving me ideas for the future as well.

a lot of ap1 owners like the newer bumper styles, headlights, tails, and interior consoles of the newer ap2. when an ap2 is totaled they usually part out and the ap1 owners scoop up all the old parts...

Ah so you think that maybe the car has had some parts fitted to it by a previous owner ?

That could explain it, I just myself really confused because it seems ALL the visual parts (body kit, wheels, interior) are from an AP2 but the engine/chassis from an AP1.

As it is a 04 model, I wasn't sure if it could have been one of the last AP1s to be produced and was fitted with some AP2 parts instead. That sounds a bit stupid, but its the only thing I could think of happening.

All European cars are AP1. ( Open the bonnet - and check the VIN plate )

The Yanks got the AP1 and then the AP2

Yeah the VIN plate says AP1. But I was under the impression that only the AP2 models had the 17" wheels and the centre console with 3 switches ?

As was said this could just be aftermarket parts being fitted to it. Or did they update the EU model to have the facelift parts as well ?

I think you got the visual upgrades but were lucky and kept the AP1 9k motor. The best of both worlds....welcome to the site.
