New S2k owner
Just purchased a 2002 formula red s2k, with 40,000kms. I'm very excited. My previous vehicle was an siR so it's a big step up from 160hp i-vtec to 240hp REAL vtec. I was jus going through the newbie threads and I need some input. I don't think the previous owner changed the oil for the differential. How much does it cost?is there a certain brand of oil? and any other forms of mantainence needed on the s2000 that's 3.5yrs old. And what forum do I look under if I'm dealing with maintanence/upgrading the suspension and LSD?
woo, I would strongly recommend changing all the fluids in your car.
There's a wonderful thread about fluids over in the Under the Hood forum. The thread is here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=195574
There are many choices, as you'll see. For my diff, I'm using Amsol LE-607. It's a very viscous fluid, and I don't drive my car in extremely cold weather.
Poke around the site a bit to try to find info on your upgrade question. Best bets are the Car Talk forum and the UTH forum.

Woo, dealers will not have the LE-607... You have to buy this and bring it to them (or a mechanic) or install it yourself. I think I got mine from the s2ki marketplace, but there are other places around to get it. I did the fluid change myself with some help from a fellow s2ki person in my area, and I also brought some to a mechanic I trust a different time.
Hmm... It's not great to switch back and forth from synthetic to "dino" oil, but I don't think you'll be causing harm. You should decide what you want to do and stick with it.
Spark plugs? Well, I would remove them and have a look at them. What are the last 4 digits of your VIN, woo and I'll tell you if the spark plug recall was required for your car. It was issued late in the model year for 2002.
I'm not sure I'd bother with a coolant flush, but definitely check the level and make sure the fluid is clean. Tune up? That's kind of meaningless on the S2000. Check the owner's manual for possible items to replace / examine (like the pollen filter and air intake filter).
My advice is to do all the fluids (tranny, diff, clutch, brake, and engine oil) You'll have some peace of mind knowing that everything's fresh. Also, please read through the oil journal thread that I pointed you at to get some idea of what fluids are best for your car.
