New, searching info on new vs. CPO
I had never owned a Honda until I purchased a 2001 Civic for a drastic change in commute. It had 63K miles on it, but I could not get over how well-built the car was and how well it handled (it was a stock Civic 5MT).
The only other import I had owned was an 02 WRX. I should have never sold that great car, but I got quite a bit of money for it, so no worries.
My DD is a heavily modified Jeep, and I sold the 01 Civic during the gas crunch for way more money than I ever expected and got my better half an 08 Yaris (this is an awesome city car, and it was hard for her as a new driver to handle the Jeep or the MT in the Civic)
Anyway, I need a small, flickable DD and I was hooked on the JCW Mini for the longest. I started to look at the JCW price tag and realized it was in the territory of other cars I've always admired.
So, I looked at the CPO Boxster S, but I won't be happy paying the maintenance on one.
I think the MX-5 has come a long way, but the car just does not sit well with me. I'm sure they're OK cars, and I can't put my finger on it.
I keep coming back to my reaction to that used Honda and how it was better in so many ways than various cars I've owned. I also thought back to the quality I had noticed in the RSX S I had test driven so often when comparing it with the WRX I eventually purchased.
Now I'm reading up on the S2000 after finding some CPO models on the Honda site.
The decision is wait a while for the cash to put down on a new one (and the potential wait to get a new one) or try to snatch a CPO in the next 3-5 months.
I guess I'm just saying hello and that I'll be lurking and reading.

I've read just about all the major threads here and elsewhere. What can I say, I've been bored.
I at least figured out I'll want an AP2.
I know I won't be modding the car seriously.
Now I just have to figure out if buying an 09 is worth the premium price over a certified used 05-07. I figure I'll keep this car for a very long time, and that's tipping the scales over to buying a new one.
