Default New from Shaw AFB, SC

Hey, just thought I'd introduce myself. I've been a member of the site for a couple of months and I've been too preoccupied reading everything else everyone has posted to bother introducing myself. Anyway, I'm Adam, and I'm currently stationed at Shaw. There are a ton of S2000s here, so I was hoping some of the guys on base might catch this forum and shoot me a message. I pass them all the time, but never get the chance to really talk to any of them. I believe my next station is going to be Ft. Bragg in NC, so I'd like to meet the folks in SC and NC because I'll be around here for a while. I'm always looking for a rally, or just a chance to get together with some of the other fine people whose lives have been graced with an S. But enough about me. More on the car.

She's an 01 AP1. Berlina Black. AEM cold air intake (for now). Skunk 2 springs (1 in drop). And what I believe is an Invidia exhaust. That one I'm not totally sure about because the previous owner did all this work to it. I just try to remember it. But I have some plans for it. Mostly aesthetic stuff at first, and then I'm getting under the hood to put more... "practical" things on the car. Like a turbo. That's practical, right? And please don't mistake the part about aesthetics for me being the guy who ruins an S with hellaflush nonsense. (No offense to those who like it. Just not my style) I'm just adding a couple things here and there to make her mine.

Anyway, I'd love to get to know those of you in the Carolinas. I'll be here for a couple more years, and it wouldn't hurt having other car enthusiasts around!

-Adam

I'm AF. I'm 1W031- Weather Forecaster. I'm here for a minimum of 2 years, and then I should be heading to Bragg for jump school and combat training. We can do Army support since the army doesn't have any weather troops. I'm just hoping to wind up on the airborne side and not the heavy mech side. What about you?

Really? What language? Spanish? I dont remember anyone else going to lackland except them. That was my primary afsc when I came in, but like so many others, I failed out of DLI. I got the min qualifying score on the DLAB so I was cat 1. Somehow wound up in a cat 4 language. Figure that one out. Anyway, nice to meet you.

What are the chances?! Welcome to the board...and gotta give a shout out to my fellow linguist! I'm Marine, MOS: 2673 (Chinese Linguist). Hailing from the 11th MEU, currently deployed out in Centcom, just floating in the water!

When were you all at DLI?

Fesoferbex- Good to meet you man. I was there from 15 feb '10- sept '10. Best time of my life though. I figure they should have done linguist training at like Goodfellow or Offut AFB so you didn't have shit to distract you from your homework. Monterey had waaaay too much to do. And, no matter how late I might be, CONGRATS on making it through the course. I'm always really impressed with the people who were able to make it. Especially if you made it on your first try. And PLEASE tell me you had Compagnos! Probably the best thing about DLI.

And if you're floating out in the Centcom AOR, then I'm probably doing weather forecasts for you or near you, depending on where you are.

USAF_S2k- I have a few friends like that. One of the was a native polish speaker, so they pulled her from Arabic to put her in Russian. She currently gets paid for both. And she's trying to re-language to French, so that will be a 3rd one she gets paid for. I pretty jealous of those people. Not even for the money. I just wish I could speak a 2nd language fluently. But I only made it 7 months into school, so I basically sound like an idiot when I speak. But I can still hold a crappy conversation. But no one pays me to do it. haha
