And, no matter how late I might be, CONGRATS on making it through the course. I'm always really impressed with the people who were able to make it. Especially if you made it on your first try. And PLEASE tell me you had Compagnos! Probably the best thing about DLI.

And if you're floating out in the Centcom AOR, then I'm probably doing weather forecasts for you or near you, depending on where you are.

USAF_S2k- I have a few friends like that. One of the was a native polish speaker, so they pulled her from Arabic to put her in Russian. She currently gets paid for both. And she's trying to re-language to French, so that will be a 3rd one she gets paid for. I pretty jealous of those people. Not even for the money. I just wish I could speak a 2nd language fluently. But I only made it 7 months into school, so I basically sound like an idiot when I speak. But I can still hold a crappy conversation. But no one pays me to do it. haha
2010 eh? I was already to 1st Radio Battalion on Camp Pendleton by that point. Yeah, you're probably right they SHOULD do linguist training at Goodfellow, but they needed to separate training requiring clearances from training the specific skillset of a language. But yes, Monterey is VERY distracting. A lot to do there. And OH YES...who hasn't had Compagno's up there by DLI!? That place is RIDICULOUS!!! *hey man* I'll tell you, learning Chinese was no walk in the park. I've never had to work so hard in my life. I've studied a lot of stuff, I'm a smart guy, I've been to college, but NOTHING was as hard to study as Chinese. Just WICKED hard!

If you ever head out to Southern California area, let me know, huh!?

I was modern standard arabic. Damn natives teach too fast and act like you're retarded when you don't remember a word you've only heard one time! Haha. But that was my first time away from home. I was 19. I didn't really have my priorities straight. Getting sent to Keesler for 8 more months of school was kind of a wake up call. That place was... well it wasn't fun. I'll just say that. Neither is an NJP for underage drinking. Or getting yelled at by the group commander as you and 4 of your fellow DLI wash-outs stand there hating your lives. We gave the presidio a bad name that day. =/

But, I'm still here. Made it through their 2 attempts to kick me out. "Resiliency" hua. Lmao. Big AF and their imaginary words...

And fesoferbex, I plan on going back to Monty for a reunion tour so if and when that ever happens, I'll be sure shoot you a pm! I'm not opposed to taking another tour of Southern Cali. I miss that state. It's so much nicer than Michigan. Haha

If you were in es-pag-nole then you had to be 311th. And if you were there in that time frame, then to some extent you HAVE to know my best friend, Barrientos. He was the red rope for quite a while. Really short dude. Awesome as hell. What's your last name? I knew a lot of random people across the post so we may have bumped into each other at some point. I lived in 841 on the 2nd floor while I was there. I hung out with Roman Monroe from time to time. You've probably met him, seeing as how you probably work together. Lol. We probably partied on the px patio at some point. lol. I met a ton of people there every weekend.
