I've been lurking here for the past 4 years,
I have always wanted an S2000. I remember seeing the car at the Washington Auto Show about 11 years ago (I think I was 14 or 15). I recall being there with my parents, pointing at the spinning roadster on the platform. Staring at the sharp nose, long hood and fender flares. I think back to the all the time I'd feel a sting when Top Gear would award the S2000 as their Viewer's Car of the Year, year after year. I remember the envy I would feel reading about the 120HP/Liter or looking down at my current car's redline and just wondering what 9,000 RPM would sound like. I always wondered how it would feel looking up whilst driving to see the sky or stars.
Never owning anything Honda related, I would never have thought the day would come, I mean I've always been a Mitsubishi guy...
Call it a quarter life crisis, but the stress and daily grind of work had gotten to me, my current stable of cars kept me sane but I always felt I was missing one. Even though I couldn't afford to buy another car, and still can't... I began my search last year, I drove up and down the east coast searching for my AP1. Drove to CT, NY, WV, NC, SC, DE all looking for that perfect one. Finally found one, I thought it would be perfect, a GPW 02 with Red Interior. 9 hr drive away, but I was determined. Got everything ready for the drive, the night before the drive down to see the car, the dipshit owner calls me saying he just sold it...
So I moved to search to include Berlina Black (after my g/f told me GPW with Red Interior is "girly")
Found one in Connecticut, got ready for the drive... yet again, the night before the owner calls me telling me he just sold it.
This happened twice more, a GPW in Morganstown, WV and a BB in NYC. Demoralized, I kept looking, searching everything ebay, autotrader, craigslist, every S2K forum.
So this weekend I finally, after searching for almost a year, I picked up a 2002 Berlina Black with a Red/Black Interior from Fairfax, VA. I bought it from a user on S2KCA, not sure if he's on here. It has 77K miles on it.

Car is great, very dirty, needs to be detailed. Has two long 3" rips along the top.
It'll be the odd one in a garage full of Turbo AWD four bangers (See Sig).
It's nice to finally post here as a owner.

I had a similar search experience, but it wasn't quite as drawn out at yours. I had that perfect AP1 with 15k miles, 6 hour drive away, and the owner sold it before I could pick it up. I settled for a higher mileage (70k) ap1, and I don't regret it too much
I'm from Olney, MD. There's a pretty active community in our area. Check out the Mid-A regional forum.
