New Soon to be Owner Turbo S2k
Hi guys. So long story short I am coming from the Cobalt SS/Ion Redline community. I owned a 500whp Redline, that I am currently trying to sell.
Next car I am looking at a Miata or of course why I am here, a S2k. I found one local but it has a rebuilt title. Supposedly damage to the front driver side, and panels have been repainted and work has been done on it. I am going to look at the car tonight. Shell has 160k miles and engine has 5k on a rebuild. What would seem to be a reasonable price for this car? Yellow in color, looks good from pictures, and of course he had it turbocharged. He says some garrett turbo. I am confirming everything tonight. 2007 Ap2.
That rolls me into another thing, from pictures he has his PCV system doesn't look right. The breather form the valve cover goes to the intake manifold like stock, it does not look like there is any check valve. So how I am assuming it is running right now is that it is pressurizing the intake system when under boost. Are my assumptions bad or correct? Rebuild would be worth almost nothing if the damn system was pressurizing the crankcase. But, I could be wrong, there could be something I am not seeing.
Third thing I was going to ask was tuning. Like I said I am a tuner, and supposedly the car has used flashpro or something for tuning? Is this a factory pcm reflash? can the factory pcm see boost? Or is it a fake 2 bar/3 bar tune?
Any help anyone has would be greatlyyyyy appreciated. I am very excited to get into these cars. My name is Joe and I am located in Parma, ohio. Thanks again!

I'd only be looking at the rebuild car as a hobby car. High mileage, repaired body/frame and an engine of questionable parentage.
Unaltered cars seem to have the highest sales prices these. Once the car is buggered with a turbo charger or by altering the suspension or has body damage the value should drop. Not saying they're not good or even great drivers but don't pay a premium price. Rebuilt engine by who?
Only 2006+ cars (Drive by wire) have a tuneable ECU. Honda FlashPro is the only one I'm familiar with. Earlier cars require piggyback or Accura ECUs to tune. OEM 2006 (AP2) engine has no check valves. I know some AP1 engines have them. With a Gernby Honda FlashPro road tune, this intake and a high flow cat I'm getting 221bhp at the rear wheels (conservative Mustang dyno) with this car. VTEC is set to 3600 rpm. No blower.

Maybe it's a good car, but it's got so many red flags (at least on paper).
As with any build, you never know if things were done right until they go wrong. I'd advocate you either get a well documented car, or find one that's mostly stock and do it yourself (you may come to appreciate it in stock form anyway).
Proceed with caution.

I think a lot more information is needed to really give good advice here. What do you plan to use the car for? Budget? What do you want in an S2000? Daily/Project/Street/Track car? What do you want in an s2000 that the Redline does not provide? Personally, I would not touch that car, as described, for anything more than a few grand. I would not trust a rebuilt motor without a spec sheet from a legitimate shop. I would also not want a rebuilt car without seeing pictures of the damage and assessing it for myself. I draw the line at frame damage unless going for an all out track car.
A reasonable price, in this instance, is highly dependent on how the repairs were done. If there was no frame damage and the engine was re-done by a reputable shop with papers, I could see asking 11k if repairs are near perfect. I would guess it would sell around 10k. Pricing a vehicle like that is a complete crapshoot though. That being said, there were a lot of ifs there which this vehicle does not seem to meet. I do not think this is a vehicle that I would consider buying at any price. Is it currently turbocharged or it was previously turbocharged? "He had it turbocharged" sounds like it was formerly but the title of the thread and question #2 seem to contradict that. I have no input on #2.
Disclaimer - I do not fully understand the technicalities of how FlashPro works. I can help a bit though as I do know what it provides a user. To my knowledge, it is a software update to the ECU that allows a tuner to modify parameters within the ECU and add features to it. Hondata has been around for more than a decade and provides the most OEM-like tuning solutions for Honda vehicles. FlashPro allows datalogging, traction control, boost by gear, and other great features. It, IMO, is the main advantage of having an 06+. It Provides the most freedom while remaining emissions compliant (except Californiastan).
TL;DR : Way too many questions here to give sound advice. Unless that particular S2000 is well documented, I would not touch it at nearly any price. With more specific information on the car in question and your needs/desires in the purchase, we can be of more help. There is a wealth of knowledge here that can help you into a nice S2k. Well done turbo S2k's cost a lot of money. The only s2k that may be more expensive is a poorly done second hand turbo S2k. Fast, cheap, reliable
