Hey guys and gals,

I'm new here, bumped into this awesome forum an hour ago. Hopefully I'll be getting my s2k tomorrow! Already have a question for everyone ... Is this worth the deal?

Year 2000
Color gray
Mileage 48900
Price 14k
No accidents just tiny tear on back window which is REALLY blurry.... Need advice to clean or even replace please.

Is this worth it ?? Thanks everyone!!!

By the way, names Mike.

Welcome Mike!

Where in Texas are you?

Is it a good deal? Only you can tell. My ’00 with 57k was $12k (via eBay, purchased from a Cadillac dealer in Fort Worth). Keep in mind that this is the peak season for convertible sales, so prices will be higher.

As far as the top goes; you can clean the window with some 303 Aerospace Protectant (possible the best product for plastic and rubber). That will help with the fog a little. If it’s the original top, a replacement is probably due anyway. Having it replaced is upwards of $1,500, but you can DIY for as little as $400 (and that will get you a glass window). My original top is in good condition, but I am considering replacing it this summer to get rid of the lame plastic window.

The mileage is good. Is it private party or a dealer? How many owners? Any mods?

Do as much reading on here as possible before buying. Because of this site, I knew what to look for and expect when test driving mine (even though it was eBay, I could have backed out if I feel they had misrepresented the condition of the car).

Also read up on the DIY maintenance items. These are things you will want to do after getting your “new” car (various fluids, etc.).

Make sure your search is broad and be patient. It’s worth the wait and a drive for the right car.

Thanks Jdrum!!

I live in Houston and the car is from the dealer. 2 previous owners and it has no mods. I will be sure to look around the forums a bit more. Thanks again for the insight

Welcome to the forum Mike! Excellent advice from Jdrum1. I'll second the fact that you are probably going to want a top with the glass window, so at the very least it would be a good idea to try to negotiate the price on that particular car accordingly (especially with the small tear and cloudy window). Good luck with the process, there is a TON of excellent info on this site, you'll find everything you need to know!

!4k is sort of high imho. I would look around Austin and San Antonio, I've seen one with a few more thousand miles and no issues for 12-13k.
