Newb, thinking about s2000
So i've been wanting an s2000 ever since my friend bought a 2001 s2000. But i kind of have mixed feelings. I love the car because it has great handling and it's pretty quick. But all of my firends have "muscle cars." Including a 2000 trans am, 2001 gt mustang, and a 2005 GTO. Im split between a 98-02 trans am and a s2000. Can anyone give me some of the pros and cons of the s2000 and how does an s2000 hold up against the cars i listed?? Thanks, James
Depends on what you want it for, really. I would take the s2k over any of those cars any day of the week but thats my opinion. This car is NOT a fast straight line car. It is amazingly powerful for what it is, but it was never meant to be a fast car, its the whole package.Trying to keep up as far as an acceleration sense with these other cars, you will find you will be spending much much more money than them, but if you want a car that handles amazing, is going to be extremely reliable, gets decently good gas mileage, and is a blast to drive the s2k will win ever time hands down.....IMO
Just to give you some others to look at if you like the idea of the S, but want a little more power the 350z is actually a good choice. Not anywhere near is nimble and light, not quite as fun to drive but it does have more power/torque and is a little more HP bang for buck .
If your "friends "dated males would you ? Why would what your friends drive matter to you? You buy a car based on your finances, driving needs, driving style. Not what some other sausage bought.
Crap what are you 15?

actually i dont really car what they drive. I just like tuner cars and muscle cars and i was just looking for some opinions on what i should get. I would never buy a 350z because it seems like i see 10 of them a day and i've seen maybe 5 s2000's in the past 6 months. I really want a car that is really reliable and pretty good on gas, and handles like it's on rails. Thats why i want a s2000.
You can tune s2000s but you don't get a lot of bang for the dollar. Its pretty darn good right out of the box. As others have said, the car is designed for the twisties vs red light to red light. The car hits alot of what you are looking for, reliable, economical and good handling. But there are few cheap bolt-ons that provide good HP increases. Go take a few for a spin and then try some of the alternatives, nothing beats hands-on.
A trans am over an S2000? Are you serious. Those things are so damn big and I wouldnt call them nimble. My buddy had one. Sounded great and the power can be quite nice but I would take precision anyday.

Thats a tought choice, I love my S but then again there are times I wish I could rip through a quarter mile in 13 seconds. When I upgrade cars again I am going with V8 muscle, Corvette has been calling my name.
