Default newbie about to buy

Hey guys, I'm considering buying this 2001 here and am looking for some input. A few weeks ago I lost my 99 miata and I've been looking for a new fun to drive roadster ever since. I came really close to pulling the trigger on a mazdaspeed miata but the one I found had too much quarterpanel rust and a bunch of oil leaks so I passed on it. I'm having my mechanic check this s2000 out on monday and if that passes then I will probably be buying it! I've done a little research on common problems, things to look for etc and this one has the known clutch buzz. The rear window (plastic) is also pretty cloudy.

47k miles, one owner and never driven in the winter. Blue book on it is over 21k and they're only asking 16k. That strikes me as odd, but I'm wondering what if any room to negotiate I have on this. Thanks guys and I'm hoping this will come through!

16k for a 01 seems a bit expensive even considering it has 47k miles :\

Agreed. I periodically check to see what the market is and I see 04-06 models with 50-80k miles asking for 16k. Look online. I think you can find a better deal or work out a lower price on this one. $10-12 seems right to me. My opinion only by the way. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Thanks guys, We are also going to look at a couple 03s today and see if we like those too, roughly 75k on them for the same money

Mechanic found absolutely nothing wrong with it except rear tires are a little light on tread. Doesn't matter to me because I'm putting winter tires on it anyways but I'll use that as a negotiating point.

I'd say for the low miles and sought after black color, its a tad steep. I'd hit him with 13.5. I'm not sure of prices for your location though. Does it compare reasonably with others youve found on craigslist?

He didn't budge much. It's mechanically sound, in pristine condition and it's lower than most of what I saw elsewhere. Blue book on this car was 22. We settled on 15.5

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 are now mounted, s2000 is ready for the snow! 205/55/16 all around on Nokian's recommendation.
