Hey everyone, I've been trolling around the forums for the last few weeks. I decided I wanted to take on a project of fixing a salvage vehicle to drive as a weekend car to have fun with. After looking through many options (350z, miata, etc), I decided it was definitely a rwd car that I wanted since my dd is a '13 STI and I wanted to get a little horizontal (in safe situations only of course). I've been working on cars for about 6 years and it is my passion. I am starting in the fall to get my Masters in mechanical engineering with a focus in automotive/automation.

Needless to say the the s2k's engineering holds great interest to me and that is how I decided on it. I'll be looking for an ap1 model with a salvage title to fix up in the coming months. After looking at cop*rt, I realized that wouldn't be a smart choice due to their ridiculous fees, and unfortunately, iaai auctions don't have any s2000's that are available to the public. So I turned to ebay and craig's list, but those prices were insane... So I thought I would drop a line on the forums to see if anybody might have one to sell for a reasonable amount.

Additionally, you would get the peace of mind knowing the car is going to an owner who is going to fix it up and keep it on the road for many more years rather than junk it at a yard. If anyone has any comments, concerns, or advice for me I'd love to hear it as I'm trying to get as much info as possible. This will be the largest project I have undertaken and I'm really looking forward to it!

Some quick info on the conditions of the ap1 I'm looking for:

None of the 3 F's: Frame, Fire, or Flood damage

Reasonable mileage: Granted these cars are up to 13 years old, the max mileage I would take would be 140k give or take a few.

Vehicle must have been in good, running condition prior to damage: engine, tranny viable

Any other advice on what to look for/stay away from is appreciated!
