Like you want to put a turbo on the s2k? Its not tough if you want to stay CARB legal. Just purchase the Greddy turbo kit and you're good to go.
This is very weird for me. I was planning to get an s2k and get enough boost to feel risky after selling my 600 hp 300zx TT. I figured I'd just have to detune for emissions.
I see I was horribly wrong! Still reading into things. But spool sound and a tame BOV were on my to-do list for an s2k...
At this point, I'm thinking I need to get out to some meets, first.
I'm considering that. Coming from South Carolina, Kentucky, Iowa, I've always been able to do whatever the hell I want with my car - the only restriction being money

So the thing about California is kinda more, the only real restriction is money, it just requires more of it. Like i commented on your other post this car has a ton of potential for power. There are ways around the required smog check every two years, and as long as you arent driving like an idiot or have a straight piped exhaust most cops wont pull you over and do an inspection. My S2k is fully decked out with a big wing, aftermarket wheels, and aftermarket exhaust and i still havnt been pulled over.because my exhaust isnt super loud and i dont drive like an idiot. Even if i was pulled over however my engine bay is 100% stock so they could only get me for speeding (which i dont do).
There are plenty of people here in the east bay who are running superchargers or turbo's and putting closer to 400whp on 91. I myself might be going the turbo route myself in a few years.
