not really new here
I'm not really new here, I've been on here for 3+ years, just on the background, lurking until recently I've finally purchased a 2002 Black s2k with full red interior, which I've been wanting since 2002 or whenever they came out. It was a good purchase, besides the pesky problem with the transmission that the dealer didn't tell me which is now fixed (after pulling the tranny out and re-doing the gears - thanks rob!) It was just too good of a deal to pass this on, since the car only had 14,000 miles on it, the color scheme I wanted and it was bone stock, weekend driver from a honda service manager.
Surprising enough, I'm the third owner of this car and for good or bad, I enjoy my car. I drive it to everywhere, race a lot and do a lot of dragon runs (done 10+ runs) and mtn runs in alabama, South carolina, Tennessee and georgia.
I've been actually wanting this car since it was first introduced, but I was doing the whole prelude thing and that car was pretty nice at that time. Then I moved to the Evo scene in 2003, and didn't look back until the recent accident which completely totalled my Evo which I had spend 3 years upgrading and having fun with (80,000 miles when the accident happened).
I've done a number of auto-x, did few road racing, and ton of street racing when it was fun back in the days and I've been in the import scene since 91, when it was all a new things for us and when mustangs and cameros ruled the streets.
I've recently took my S to auto-x driving event and done 2 since I've purchase it back in End of January and I have to say this car is a lot more nimble and sharper than how Evo felt on auto-x course. Of course there is obvious lack of power since my last Evo had close to 380 whp on AEM EMS with supporting mods. I'm very satisfied with the top down fun and how this car handles. Evo was more of a front wheel based RWD which tend to push the car during curves while it's much more easier for me to try to kick the rear out of this car on the curves to get more speed around the technical corners and slaloms.
I'm torned right now on if I want the FI this car or not, since I'm very happy with the power of this car for the car itself and I know what I have to compromise if I go FI.
But long story short, I'm here now and hopefully I wont post too much.
I'm very happy with the level of people here, you guys all seem reasonable and do like talking about technical aspect of the car, which I enjoy reading and participating, to learn and share.
I run alabama region scca and if you happen to go, please come by and say hello. I'll be most likely with bunch of Evo owners and 350z owners.
I have my own forum/club as well, so I know what admins go through, so I'll try hard to comply to this boards rules and regulations.
Thanks!
