I don't think you can read posts on this board as a representative sample of experience with the car, because it isn't. I spend my life doing market survey research, and this board is what we would call a "qualitative sample." Likely, the extremes, good and bad, are much exaggerated here, and problems with the car over-rated. Consumer Reports, I recall, gave the car a higher than average reliability rating, amazing for a sports car.

Some owners have had problems to be sure. Other, like me, have had none. But sets of anecdotal experiences are not a sound measure of the car's true reliability. I think you have to go by the reputation of Honda overall, which is quite good, and the few somewhat objective measures that exist, such as Consumer's Report.

I have owned my car since Mid-March, 3800 miles. I consider the quality of the car, and overall happiness-experience to date to be equivalent to when I bought a new lexus some years ago.

Just one point on the curve, but this car will exceed your expectations, IMHO.

I agree with what Rick has said completely. I also think that Honda has done as good a job as possible to make people happy. As someone stated somewhere today some people aren't going to be happy no matter what you do. But I know that Honda has gone to extreme lengths to TRY to make people happy. In one case they even covered one of our members car payments for a month!

it's not broken
some people have cars that have issues
some people have broken their cars
some people have cars that are lemons (happens to every manufacturer)
MOST of us have cars that work just fine

I've bought ten cars in my life before the S2000. Six were Hondas and four were "others." All the Hondas were better than any of the others.

The S2000 is the best, without a doubt.

Fix? Fix? Fix what?

Buy one drive it a while, then see if it needs fixin' What we have here is a likely failure to understand the S2000. Honda hit this sucker right out of the box.

Maybe build something else, but don't fix this one.

Fix! Huh!

ps:Nissan tried to fix the 240Z.

The number of problems reported here is skewed because this is an enthusiast (or "owner," by the new option) site. As members of such a clique, I'd say we drive harder than "normal" S2000 owners, we are faster on the trigger to report even the slightest problems and we are the most vocal when our baby doesn't meet 150 percent of our expectations.

Let's try a little addition. Among those "enthusiasts/owners" here are a small but very vocal bunch of folks who beat the ever-lovin' crap out of their cars and broke them

Hi Jaysom

I have owned mine since April 2000, I had the trannie fix and seatbelt fix. The car is terrific. Chances are you'll get a perfect one since I'd expect all the issues to be resolved by model year 2002.

I would recommend you pick your dealer carefully, maybe ask around on this board for opinions of dealers in your area. I'd make sure the dealer understands that you do not want your car driven by anyone at the dealership. Break it in carefully and have a blast after it turns 600 miles.

The car is terrific. It puts a smile on my face every day.

Just my 2 yen.
