Opinion on pricing
Hey. my name is Adrian and I've been looking around to purchase an s2k and have been lurking around the forums.
I'm going to go look at a 2004 tomorrow in silver with red/black interior. the car has 62,xxx miles and they are asking 19,999. The car looks really clean but i'll really see it tomorrow. I'm sure I can walk it down some and KBB has the value at 17,650 but was wondering what your thoughts were on this price and mileage? Dealer is located in NJ. Thanks!

The price is high, which is typical of a dealer. You could get a similar car on the forums in good shape for $16-17k. If the car is in really great condition, I might pay $17,500 from a dealer with that mileage.
Maybe I am out of touch, but that is worth $17k MAX to me. Buy this 1 owner 05 with 13k miles for $20k instead: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/109...0-13000-miles/
Kelly Blue Book shows a 2004 Honda S2000 with 62,000 miles with prices ranging from 16,423 - 19,120, with a "fair price" of 17,772.
Here's the problem... A lot of dealers are happy to wait for someone to pay a premium for a well sought after car like the S2000, especially if it is in excellent condition.
A well sought after car draws customers into the dealership who might end up buying something else. I have seen S2000s at dealerships here in the Bay Area sit above Kelly Blue Book prices for 2-3 weeks... I assume that they eventually get their premium...
In fact, I just saw a similar car at a Subaru dealership over the last weekend (with 40,000 miles) for an asking price of 20,999. I tested the price to see how far he'd come down, and he said that he might be able to knock 300 off the price... I walked...and he let me walk...

It's still (limited) supply and (high) demand for the S2000. I chased too many that sold the day before to doubt that. A private purchase is usually a less expensive option but even an "as is" dealer sale has some extra value 'cuz the dealer doesn't want his reputation to suffer. By "dealer" I don't mean a small lot in a poor part of town.
A Honda dealer is preferred (by me anyway!) and where my '06 just came from this month. Since couldn't pick up the car for a couple of days the dealer asked if he could put it back on the showroom floor. While they were staging it again three (3) separate parties inquired about buying it.
