If you had a chance to do it all over what year would you buy and why?

Fortunately you asked that at the right time. I just bought a 2008 to replace the 2000. But i was looking for anything 06 or newer. Mostly because the drive by wire allows me to easily use the hondata which I like far better than the aem ems should I decide to turbo or supercharge this one. The rear diff and transmission are upgraded in the 04+ but never had problems from the stock units in the 2000. I like the styling better both inside and out on the 04+. Some like the higher redline and more raw driving experience offered in the 00-03 I actually prefer the better midrange power and stability of handling in the 04+. It really comes down to personal opinion and preference more than anything though. IMHO you can't go wrong, there really aren't any reasonable cars out there that can offer the same driving experience that any year s2000 provides. There was a Cadillac commercial one time that said when you put your key in the ignition and turn your car on... Does it return the favor? When i saw it I immediately with out hesitation said why yes! yes it does!

Almost 200k on my MY00 s2k. No major problems... yet.

If I had to do it all over again, I would get a the CR model.

Welcome to the board!

Thanks guys, Great answer terror!!! That is information that would take a long time to recive. I do realalize that sometimes it comes down to personal prefrence, but me personaly I don't like the spoiler in the CR, and ground effects I would change anyways. I like the fog lights on the Mugan kit,so leaning that way. But engine first!!
I am trying to save money, maby around 15k for down payment and upgrades!! Haha, wife doesn't know that yet!!!
I belive with that amount saved. I could get a 05 or better.. I read somewhere that the 07 and up have traction control button to help with oversteer, but I could be wrong. I do see in alot of 00 and 03 on the market here in Missouri. That's a good sign that their maybe problems with those years, so I will just focus on 05 and better!
and hope I can find a 07 gem on a steal deal with traction control.
thanks for the feedback.

You can look up all the differences but just for instance the 00-01 have plastic rear windows from the factory the center console is wraped in carpet and the ecu is tuned REALLY rich and on average put down the least amount of power on a dyno and are the slowest in stock form usually in the 14.3 range. 02-03 have glass rear windows, added tweeters into the tops of the door pannels, the center console is leather wrapped and the ecu is leaned out so the actually put a little more power down. 04-05 rims, exhaust, headlights, tail lights, front and rear bumpers were changed on the out side. Inside has a new center console that can hold two drinks, and the gauge cluster is revised so the the temp and gas gauges have more resolution the clock is moved to the cluster from the radio as well. Engine is a 2.2L with an 8krpm redline with no difference in peak power only in torque on paper but on the dyno they are pretty consitantly 10-12whp stronger on avearage, tansmission is geared shorter in 1-4 and longer in 5-6 the rear diff is reinforced. 06-07 have drive by wire, different rims, added a temp gauge to the cluster, speakers behind the head rests, changed the hue of the blue, yellow, and silver and added VSA. Idk when they added the Tire Pressure Monitoring System but it was after 06. Im sure im forgetting some of the other changes but those are the ones i can remember right off the top of my head.

For AP1 I would get the 03 if you want the 9k redline. Or AP2 the newest one you can afford.
