Potential Owner but slight dilemma
Hi guys I have been lurking on this site for the past two years and finally decided to create a account. I currently am in the process of selling my 2009 Mazda Rx8 R3 and am looking to upgrade to another sports car such as the s2000. however this is where the problem is. The reason I am upgrading from the Rx8 is because I want more power but still am looking for a sharp handling, light weight car. People are telling me that I should upgrade to a c5 z06 as it is the best performance bargain and has the missing power that I want. However, I feel that I will be missing out on the lightweight and nimble feeling of the s2000.
Would supercharging the s2000 satisfy my need for power? Or am I looking at the wrong car? Any insight or experience you guys might have on this would be greatly appreciated.

I currently own both and while the S2000 faster than the RX8 it does not feel much more powerful.
If you’re not happy with the 8 power-wise you won’t be happy with the S for long.
Super charging any car [when done right] will give you more power but maybe you really should look at some other cars.
How much does it cost to properly SC a car? $6000 plus?

I'm not sure I could live with the interior of the C5 Corvette, but you can't really beat the performance bargain in the price range.
I imagine supercharging the S2000 would give you plenty of power (depending on your preference, and build), but the reliability won't be the same as stock and the upkeep will become more expensive.
A lower mileage 2010+ Camaro SS can be had for around $25,000, and so can a 2011+ Mustang GT. I imagine either of these would satisfy your want for power, but they may or may not suit your taste.

If you're looking for power, there are many cars that are faster in acceleration than the S. Personally, I love to drive fast around twisty mountain roads or the track. For those purposes, there are very few cars that are more fun and satisfying to drive than the S. With the CR, handling is even more race oriented and only few cars can keep up around corners.
For light weight sportscars under $30k the S2000 pretty much is the king of them all. The next step up would be Lotus Elise and then Lotus Exige...another step up would be the Porsche GT3 RS and then Ferrari Scuderia / Lamborghini Superleggera.
Until you have the money for the latter categories, supercharging would probably be the way to go about it...but that's just my 2 cents from a guy who isn't particularly interested in American cars. Maybe the Corvette would work better, or maybe it won't.

I would stay away from Lotus unless you are buying a second car/weekend warrior. The problem being that replacement body parts for Lotus have long waiting periods. If you smash it up you could be waiting a month to three months as the norm to get the car back on the road.
